Bastien’s POV

As we neared the house we heard Afton and Chelsea fighting and shouting about a lost boy.  I was puzzled at this cause who is this lost boy? I’ve been so caught up at the bar that I felt completely clueless as to what was going on with the rest of the family.  Lottie got to the door first and pushed it open.  There was no one in the living room; the loud voices appeared to be coming from upstairs.

“Hey there is no scent of Valentina or Demitri here, let’s just leave a note and go pick up Vera” I said and Lottie just nodded sadly.  Sadly, cause her friend Val was in trouble and she wasn’t there for her I just knew it.  So we wrote a quick note inviting all the family to come to the bar at 4pm today and we left to head in the direction of Jordan’s home.  As we neared the house Vera came bolting out and flung herself into my arms.

“Hi sweetheart, how’s life with ya?” I nuzzled her neck and snuck a kiss on her cheek.

“Hey daddy” she said wrapping her arms around my neck and giving me a big smacking kiss on my cheek.  She giggled then as I tickled her under the arms and she wriggled and writhed until she jumped down and ran to Lottie and snuggled into her for a hug.

“Mommy, you’re okay” she said half crying into her chest.  Lottie caught her under the chin and looked deeply into Vera’s eyes but said nothing.  I knew she was talking in Vera’s mind, both from the intense look in Lottie’s eyes and the imperceptible nods Vera was making.

“Josh, Jordan and Sophia, we are having a little get together for the family to introduce the 4 to you.” I started to say but Jordan interrupted me

“You’ve got to be kidding me” she screeched.

“You expect me to go to that vile pit you’ve built in our safe haven that we call home.  YOU DO KNOW WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN LIVING HERE” she declared loudly.

“What else would you expect from commoners” she muttered.  Don’t know why she bothered muttering as we heard her clear as a bell.  Lottie had her pushed up against the wall

“If you ever call me that again, I’ll rip your dam head off your shoulders you ignorant cow.” She said in a tight lipped ferocious way.

“Well your child is terrified of that freak you have working with you and yet you refuse to fire her, that shows me that you have no respect for your child!” Jordan retorted!”

“Oh ya, and like you’re any better putting your child up against the devil and you can’t even help her or protect her!” Lottie screamed back. “How are you any better than me? In any case, in case you have forgotten, Vera is part vampire and is able to take on any human. that’s all that Opal is, JUST A HUMAN,” she said punctuating each word. “If she ever attempted to hurt Vera, she’d just do what she did at Easter time to Beatrice.  Plus she loves the taste of blood.  So now what” she said flicking her chest out, hands up at Jordan. She stood toe to toe with Jordan waiting for her answer.  I was shocked to see Jordan back up a little

“I forgot about that and maybe Vera did too.  You need to talk to your daughter Lottie” Jordan said in a softer voice. “I read her mind, mind you it was hard, and she seems to have her thoughts blocked protecting herself.” I looked at Lottie, she smirked at me.

“But then” Jordan carried on unaware of our look “when she fell asleep it was like reading a book.  A woman with dark hair is going to bite her and she is very afraid, she sees 2 people she loves have died and she’s at a graveyard.” Jordan finishes.
