"Mother?! Mother where are you?!" A small skeleton called out in a strange language, running and looking for his mother. Fire and loud shouts and cries surrounded him, as his home kingdom was being destroyed. Humans ran towards monsters angrily. The humans were chasing all of the monsters into the caves.

Where was she?

What was happening?

He froze in his tracks as one of the humans raised a sledgehammer of some sort, and swung at him. He was knocked over by another force.

King Amago stood above him, fighting the human away. His horns shone in the firefight, and he yelled at the skeleton to run. Despite him knowing a completely different language, he understood. He pushed himself up, and before he could run, felt a pain on his face.

The skeleton looked on the ground where shards of his skull stood scattered. He then saw a pair of white, fuzzy feet. Prince Asgore pulled him by his sleeve and ran into the cave where the monsters were retreating.

They hid behind rocks with Queen Segra, and another monster that Asgore knew. He was betrothed to her... Toriel was her name.

Hours passed, and then the king appeared, telling of what had happened and declaring these caves as the new home for the monsters.

All around him he saw families reuniting. Where was his mother?

He roamed the main cave where everyone was and then went to an area where the wounded were. His mother was a healer, surely she would be here..

But there wasn't any sign of her.

That night, he spent alone, on a ledge away from the other families, and staring at his reflection in a pool of water. He was damaged beyond repair.

Maybe his mother could have fixed It...

The next morning, or what was assumed to be then, the monsters began to journey deeper into the mountain's cave system.

He walked further behind, studying the caves, the ceilings high above everyone, the warmth coming from around him. He knew that somewhere nearby, there had to be lava... He saw the King and Queen, as well as Asgore, Toriel and her mother paused nearby as everyone continued. They were writing on some paper, and Asgore trotted over to where he stood. "Are you okay? You look sort of upset." The young Prince gave a kind, sympathetic smile and the skeleton nodded, the body language helping him understand. Asgore pulled him over to where the others surrounded the paper.

The king was making a map of the underground. He looked at the skeleton and gestured to the map, telling him in a sign language that this would be known as "Hotland". He looked around. Surely enough, he was right about lava, it was all around.

He smiled and the group of goat monsters kept walking with the rest of the kingdom.

They reached many areas, such as one where waterfalls and streams existed, as well as strange talking flowers.
And another, where strangely enough, snow covered the ground, and huge trees towered above. Soon they reached the end, and realized how small of a group was left. Some monsters had taken refuge in areas along the trail it seemed. The caves had become a home.

And the best part, thought the young skeleton, was that he knew all of it. What saddened him was the fact that He still didn't have a family.
Although, the group he traveled with had become a sort of family...

"Gaster!" Asgore ran up to him.

He talked in sign language, although very terrible, it was understandable that he said that the king and queen were to head back to the first few caves to make the royal home. He asked if he wanted to come with them.

Gaster happily nodded and ran to catch up with his new family.
