Alfie

"Look, I don't think this was a good idea, maybe we should-"

But I was cut off mid sentence as Niomi began, yet again, rambling down the phone. "Are you giving up? Wow, you fucking give up on everything. You're pathetic you know that? If you really want to get her back, you should-"

And now it was my turn to interrupt. "Why do you even care?"

"Excuse you!" She hissed back at me, and I could only imagine how fuming her face went.

"Why do you care? Surely, if she really is your 'best friend' then you would only care that she's happy, not who she's with."

Silence.

"W-Well... She isn't happy." Niomi said, stuttering her response. "Luke doesn't love her... H-He can't... They're not right for each other."

"Niomi," I paused, beginning to get suspicious. "What's going on?"

"Nothing just leave it! You don't fucking know a thing okay so just fuck off!" She yelled, followed by several heavy breaths. Once she finally calmed down, she patiently said, "Luke and her aren't meant to be together, she isn't happy and Luke doesn't love her, it's as simple as that."

I furrowed my eyebrows, pausing for a moment before saying, "And how would you know how much Luke loves her? Surely there's people closer to him that he would talk about this to."

I could sense her nervousness through the phone before she started stuttering et again, this time worse than before as she said, "P-Plea-ease don't t-te-tell Zo-Zoe, p-pleas-se."

"Just tell me what's going on!"

"Luke loves me... Not her."

Bang

Three pounds in my door and I was up. Opening the door, I was greeted by the all too familiar face, in the all too familiar situation. "Come in." I sighed, opening the door for Finn.

He was shaking as he walked in, and usually such a close friend would be a lot more worried in this situation, but this is the 20th time something like this had happened.

"He's st-still not back Alfie... Wh-where is he?" Finn sat down on the sofa before turning back to me. "Why won't he come back?"

I sighed, taking a seat next to Finn and handing him a blanket. "We've talked about this Finn. He's not coming back, and we don't want him back."

Finn laid down, resting his head on my lap and wrapping the blanket around him. "I-I knew we should t have called he police... He's mad at me... He's punishing me."

"No," I said, looking at Finn who had just began shaking even more. "No, Finn, he's staying away because it's not safe for him to come back here, you know that."

"But this is his home. This is where he belongs..." He paused, sitting up and staring out he window. "Where we belong."

I sighed, not knowing what else I could do to help my friend. It's like this every week. You'd expect Jack to be the last person he'd want to see, and get her the only person he wants to see.

"I'll make us a cup of tea." (Oops I'm British ._.)
