Chapter 1:
I had been with Ron at the Burrow for the majority of the holidays. The Burrow was his family's home. It was great. It was a very tall, slightly leaning building with many floors. From the outside, it was clear that it was held up with magic, but on the inside it felt like a normal home. I spent most of my time with Ron and the twins, either up in Ron's bedroom on the top floor (not including the ghoul inhabited attic) or in the twins' room on the second floor. Although, we did play quite a few games of Quidditch in their wonderful back yard.
Mrs Weasley was the most wonderful cool EVER and she always made me eat second and third helpings - not that I ever minded. Mrs Weasley also gave the best hugs! Mr Weasley was a muggle-obsessed wizard and he was hilarious! He was also very nice.
Bill and Charlie - Ron's two oldest brothers - were curse-breaking in Egypt for Bill as he worked as a curse breaker for Gringotts, and fighting Dragons in Romania for Charlie because he was a dragon-ologist? I don't know what to call his job. But he studies dragons.
Percy had spent most of the holidays in his room, and he would go bright red and not say a thing if you asked him what he was doing. No one believed me when I told them that I knew, but Percy had a girlfriend and he was always asking me for advice, giving me free night-passes for Hogwarts in return for my keeping my mouth shut. It was hard not telling everyone the secret, but I get five late-night passes at Hogwarts for it! Next time one of the teachers catches me out of bed after hours, I have a special pass!
Fred and George also spent a lot of time in their room, and you could hear explosions and loud bangs coming from inside. They told me in secret that they were trying to create some products for their future joke shop. Ron was with me all the time unless he had to do chores, when I would either hang out with the twins or Ginny, his little sister.
Me and Ginny had actually formed quite a bond over the time we spent together. She is really funny and sweet. And I'm pretty sure she has a massive crush on Harry, because whenever someone mentions his name her face will turn the colour of her hair. It's so cute! And hilarious. I'm also really close to her because I sleep in her room. I don't think Mrs Weasley trusts me sleeping in the boys rooms.
The end of the holidays was drawing closer and closer and no one had heard from Harry. I had been corresponding with Hermione via my Phoenix, Nuri. She said she hadn't heard from Harry at all either. I strongly suspected that his horrible Aunt and Uncle had locked him up in his room or something. Or are intercepting our many letters to him and burning them. Stupid wizard-haters.
*
"Sapphire! Wake up!" Someone was shaking me and quietly calling my name.
"Shut the fuck up I'm trying to sleep." I mumbled, rolling over.
"Get up." The person said firmly.
"No." I replied just as firmly.
"Fine then." I thought the person had gone away and I was settling back in to go back to sleep when I felt the blankets fall off my body as I was lifted out of my bed. I shivered in the cold and burrowed in to the person's chest as I'm pretty sure they carried me down the stairs.
"She wouldn't wake up. Get some water." The person said. At least I think it was him because his chest vibrated when he spoke. I just ignored it and tried to fall back asleep.
"Here." Another voice said. The person holding me put me down - I think on the floor - and the next thing I knew, a sheet of icy cold water had been tipped over my head.
"WHAT THE-" I began to scream, but George - I think - leapt forward and put a had over my mouth.
"Shut up, Saph, people are sleeping!" He whispered.
"So was I!" I hissed into the darkness. I could just make out the shapes of three boys standing in front of me - two quite stocky and average height, and one a lot taller and lankier. I glared at them, even though they probably couldn't see my features properly.
"Why would you even think to wake me up at this un-godly hour?" I asked, still quite annoyed that they ha interrupted my beauty sleep.
"We think something's wrong with Harry! We're going to save him!" Ron whispered excitedly. I rolled my eyes.
"He lives ages away. You three can't use magic-"
"And you can?" George asked challengingly.
"I can do whatever the hell I want. I've used magic heaps of times out of Hogwarts and never once gotten in trouble. Anyway - do you expect him to just leave his house at whatever horrible time of the morning this is? And don't you think your mum will notice you gone?"
"Well dad enchanted this car-" Fred began.
"-so that it can fly-" George said.
"-so we can fly it to Harry's-"
"-save him from whatever-"
"-and fly back without mum noticing a thing!" Fred finished.
"Okay, I'm in, but I dibs shotgun!" I said, running out of the house. But then I realised I didn't know where the car was kept so I had to wait in the chilly summer nighttime air and wait for the boys to catch up. Then we walked around to a small shed at the back of the house where Fred and George pulled back an old tarpaulin to reveal a blue Ford Anglia.
"Sweet! As long as it actually flies." I said, jumping into the passenger seat while George got into the drivers seat and Ron and Fred hopped into the back.
George took a key out of his pocket and put it into some sort of hole that was beside the steering wheel. He turned it and the engine started up. We tensely waited as he drove it out the doors of the shed as quietly as he could and then pressed a button on the dashboard. The car hovered above the ground and we flew up in to the night sky.
"Have you ever even driven a car before?" I asked George conversationally as we soared over dark fields and sleeping towns.
"No," he replied.
"But how hard is it really? I mean, I got us up here safely enough!"
"Yeah... Not so reassuring!" I muttered, slightly anxious. But not really because I'm all invincible and stuff.
"Do you not trust me?" George put a hand over his heart in mock hurt.
"Not really." I said.
"But why?" George whined.
"It's like two in the morning, do I really have to explain myself?"
"Yes. Otherwise I officially cancel you from mine and Fred's pranks."
"But..." I began to protest.
"Meh, Fred will invite me back in anyway."
"No I won't!" Fred disagreed from the back seat.
"Yes you will. Now shut up, I need to sleep." I said, curling up into a ball on the hard seats and closing my eyes. A minute later I opened them.
"I cant sleep." I pouted.
"Too bad." George said.
"I didn't ask for your opinion," I muttered.
"Ron, sing me a lullaby." I ordered.
"Excuse me?" He asked.
"Sing. Me. A. Lullaby." I said slowly.
"Okay..." Ron mumbled in a scared voice.
"Uhh..."
"Yes?" I asked.
"Nothing! Um... Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are; up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky; twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are..." Ron sung, very badly.
"Promise me that you will never ever become a singer." I said seriously.
"What? You were the one who made me sing!" Ron protested.
"Well whatever, I don't want you to sing anymore," I said.
"So, because of Ron's singing, I am now fully awake. I'm bored, Fred, play who am I with me."
"Okay?" Fred said unsurely.
"Who am I?" I asked.
"Are you a girl?" Ron asked.
"No."
"Are you a singer?" Fred asked.
"Um... I probably sung a little back in the day." I answered.
"Okay... Are you british?" George asked.
"I don't know."
"Do we even know who you are?" Fred asked with pursed lips. He looked retarded.
"Yes," I said.
"Everyone knows who I am."
"So are you very famous?" Ron asked.
"Famous isn't really the right word... But yeah."
"Are you magical?" George asked.
"Probably."
"Are you an actor?"
"No. But I'm pretty sure people have acted as me before."
"Are you a hero?"
"You could say that."
"Are you good-looking?"
"I have no idea."
"Do you even know anything about this person?" Fred asked incredulously.
"I know his name and his main story."
"Okay. Are you dead?" Ron asked.
"Yes!" I grinned, happy someone had finally asked a good question.
"Are you Darth Vader?"
"No."
"Yoda?"
"No."
"Buddha?"
"No."
"Michael Jackson?"
"I said I didn't sing."
"Jesus?" George joked.
"Yes!" I said happily.
"Really?" George asked.
"I was joking."
"I know you were. And yes, really!" I said, grinning that someone had guessed my game.
"You are so childish, Sapph," Fred shook his head.
"Thank you!"
"You're welcome,"
"Eye spy now!" I bounced up and down in my seat.
"Eye spy with my little eye, something beginning with... D," George said quickly before I could start. i pouted but was still the first to suggest something.
"Diamond?"
"Where do you see a diamond?" George asked.
"Nowhere," I said guiltily.
"Digger?" Ron asked.
"Oh, were?" I asked excitedly.
"Down in that field," Ron pointed to a field lit with what looked like torches."
"Cool!" I clapped my hands.
"Um, dress?" Fred asked.
"Where?" I asked.
"Nowhere." He grinned.
"Dick?" I asked.
"What?" George spluttered.
"Where?" Ron asked stupidly.
"There, there, and there." I pointed to each of the boys' crotch area.
"Hey! I'm the only one in this car without a dick!" I realised.
"Nice observation." Fred muttered with pink cheeks.
"Now I feel left out." I pouted.
"Actually, no. Because I can have babies and you guys can't." I said proudly.
"Yeah but you can't have a baby unless a guy puts their dick inside you." George said.
"True, true." I said. Ron, who was bright red and looked very awkward, changed the subject.
"Back to eye spy?" He suggested weakly.
"I give up." I said.
"Ditto." Fred agreed.
"Same." Said Ron.
"Dashboard!" George exclaimed.
"Well this is boring now." I announced.
"A, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y and z; now I know my a, b, c's, next time won't you sing with me." I sung to myself.
"I'm glad you know such intelligent songs, Sapphire," George laughed.
"So am I," I laughed with him.
"I'm bored." I said.
"Same." Fred whined with me.
"I am too!" Ron joined in.
"Be quiet, I need to concentrate on the sky," George ordered.
"Are we here yet?" I whined.
"No." George replied.
"Are we here yet?" I moaned five minutes later.
"No." George said.
"How long until we get there?" I whined.
"Another hour. Go to sleep." George said.
"Okay." I smiled, closing my eyes and drifting off into the land of llamas and ice cream.
*
"We're here. Wake up now, Sapphire." George poked me until I opened my eyes.
"Got Harry yet?" I asked.
"No, we forgot which house was his!" Ron panicked from the back.
"We were hoping you knew?" Fred added hopefully.
"Do I fucking look like I know? It's too early for my brain to even function properly, besides, I've never even been to his house!" I looked out the window and saw we were hovering next to a street sign saying 'Privet Drive'. My sleepy brain vaguely noted that this was the street where Harry lived.
"Just drive down to the end and try look through all the windows," I yawned. George gently tapped the accelerator with his foot and we slowly flew down the street. We were nearly at the end when I saw Harry's house.
"That one," I tapped George on the shoulder, pointing to number four.
"It has bars on the second story window."
"Yay!" Fred and Ron chorused from the back. They had been discussing how we would break Harry out of the house and when Ron said they may have bars on the window, Fred said they could bust them out with the car. They had been hoping they could do that since the suggestion was made.
George flew right up as close as he could to the barred window; himself and Ron were on the side closest to Harry. Ron leaned out of the open car window, reached through the bars, and tapped softy on Harry's bedroom window.
I peered out of my front window and saw a figure moving inside the room. I seriously hoped it was Harry and we hadn't just woken a random criminal on home detention. But soon enough, a skinny boy with untidy hair was staring out the window at us with an expression of disbelief.
"Ron," Harry breathed, pushing the window up and locking it in place so we could talk through the bars.
"Ron, how did you - what the -?" Harry spluttered.
"All right, Harry?" Asked George, grinning from the front seat.
"Hey Harold. Why no 'Sapphire! Sapphire! It's so good to see you!'? I'm pretty sure I was right about you and Ron having a little bromance," I grinned, reaching over George, through his window, and flicking Harry on the nose.
"I didn't see you." Harry laughed.
"Psht, whatever. I still ship Rarry." I told him.
"What?" Everyone asked.
"Never mind, it's grown up stuff, you wouldn't understand." Everyone looked at me weirdly.
"What's been going on?" Ron asked.
"Why haven't you been answering my letters? I've asked you to stay about twelve times, and then Dad came home and said you'd got an official warning for using magic in front of muggles-"
"It wasn't me - and how did he know?" Harry said.
"He works for the ministry; you know we're not supposed to do magic outside school-"
"I do magic all the time outside Hogwarts." I said. Ron ignored me.
"You should talk," Harry pointedly stared at the flying car.
"Oh, this doesn't count," said Ron.
"We're only borrowing this. It's dads, we didn't enchant it. But doing magic in front of those muggles you live with-"
"It wasn't me-" Harry said.
"That's what they all say." I muttered audibly.
"I told you, I didn't - but it'll take too long to explain now look, can you tell them at Hogwarts that the Dursleys have locked me up and won't let me come back, and obviously I can't magic myself out, because the ministry will think that's the second spell I've done in three days, so-"
"Stop gibbering," said Ron,
"We've come to take you home with us."
"But you can't magic me out either-"
"Actually, I can. But I don't need to, this way will be more fun." I grinned at Harry.
"Tie that around the bars," said Fred, throwing the end of a rope to Harry.
"If the Dursleys wake up, I'm dead," Harry reminded us as he tied the rope to the bars and George revved up the engine.
"Don't worry," I said,
"And stand back."
Harry moved back into the shadows, next to his snowy owl Hedwig, as George flew the car as far away from the window as he could get with the rope tied to the back of the car and around the bars on the bedroom window. The car revved louder and louder until, with a loud crunch, the bars were separated from the house. I looked down out of my window and saw the bars dangling a few feet of the ground, rising slowly as Ron hoisted them back up into the car with the rope. George flew the car back as close as he could to the - now clear - window.
"Get in," said Ron.
"But all my Hogwarts stuff - my wand - my broomstick -"
"Where is it?"
"Locked in the cupboard under the stairs, and I can't get out of this room-"
"No problem - out of the way, Harry." George said, as himself, Fred and I climbed through Harry's window and into his bedroom. Fred and George both had to pull me in because I was too short and almost went crashing down into the rose garden below.
"So we'll get your trunk - you hand anything important from your room to Ron and he can put it in the car," I clarified to Harry.
"Thanks," he said,
"Watch out for the bottom stair - it creaks," Harry warned.
Harry started to hand various things around his room to Ron while I magically unlocked his bedroom door and Fred, George and I quietly crept out of Harry's room and into the creepily tidy hall. We went down the spotless staircase and turned at the bottom, now facing a small cupboard door. So this is where Harry used to sleep.
"Alohomora," I whispered, pointing my wand at the handle. There was a faint click and the door swung open to reveal a very small space, filled mostly with a massive trunk.
"Here we go, then," I whispered, sliding into the cupboard behind the trunk and giving it a push. Fred and George pulled from the other side.
"What the fuck does he keep in this thing?" I panted, starting to push the heavy trunk up onto the second stair, trying to avoid the bottom creaky one.
"Dunno," Fred replied, just as breathless as me.
"Be quiet!" Harry hissed, joining us to help heave the trunk up the stairs. I heard a loud cough from the bedroom next door. Eventually we reached Harry's room and Fred and George picked me up and threw me into the back of the car.
"Ouch!" I hissed. George smirked at me and I glowered back. Rom climbed over the seats to join me and Fred jumped into the back of the car to help us pull the trunk in while Harry and George pushed it through the window. Inch by inch, the trunk slid through the window.
"A bit more," panted Fred who was helping me and Ron pull the trunk into the car.
"One good push-" Harry and George slammed their shoulders into the end of the trunk and it slid through the window and into the back seat of the car.
"Okay, lets go," George whispered, climbing into the car and sitting in the drivers seat, waiting for Harry to climb in. But just as Harry was on the windowsill there came a loud sudden screech from behind him, followed by the thunder of a man's voice.
"THAT RUDDY OWL!"
"I've forgotten Hedwig!" Harry tore back across the room and snatched up Hedwig's cage - just as his bedroom light flickered on. He dashed back to his window and passed the cage to Ron, he was just on the windowsill again when a big fat man with a purple face - I recognised him as Harry's uncle - siezed Harrys ankle and started to pull him.
I grabbed Harry's arms and Fred and Ron joined me, I would be surprised if Harry hadn't grown an inch or so in the past two seconds.
"Petunia!" Roared Harry's uncle.
"HE'S GETTING AWAY!" But I pulled my wand out of my pocket.
"Expelliarmus!" I yelled, and the fat guy was shot back across the room, Harry's ankle flying out of his grasp.
"Put your foot down, George!" I yelled and the car shot suddenly up towards the moon.
"See you next summer!" Harry yelled at the Dursley's stunned faces. Then me and the Wesleys burst into laughter as we soared back to the Burrow.
