Dean followed her, rushing before she got too far.
Sam sighed and plopped onto the bed.
"You alright there, sport?" Eva asked him. He raised an eyebrow at her. "Sorry, it felt like a sport moment."
He ran a hand over his face in a manner that reminded Eva of his brother. Sam was different though; she could tell. Sam was pure, much like she was.
"It's just that this shouldn't be happening. Ya' know, they have a lot of similarities. The rock music, the love for food, but that doesn't tell who they are," Sam explains as he runs his hands through his hair. "Most people would say they're perfect together because of all those little things, but it's not that at all. Carmen could be the preppiest girl you've ever met, and Dean would still fall for her."
"I'm not sure I get where you're going," Eva commented as she sat on the bed. He chuckled tiredly.
A moment later, he spoke again. "It's not all of those little personality things. You wanna know why they're so great together? Because they've both been through more shit than any normal person could handle."
Eva considered this for a moment to discover that he was right. Carmen lost her family, her friends, and still managed to keep going. She hunted down two of the best hunters in the world. She killed the son of a bitch that took her life from her. She tore herself away from everything she had grown to love, and thrived in a big city, only to be pulled back in. She became a hunter again, this time all on her own. And now, she was a monster, but Eva knew in her heart that there was no way in hell that girl would be sucking any blood from a real person.
Dean had lost everything he knew, only having his brother left to cling to. He had became one of the best hunters in the world, but not without many wounds, mistakes, and reprimands. He killed the thing that took his mother, and he stopped the apocalypse. He faced a screw up that would haunt him forever, but he gained a hell of a girl in the process. When even that was pulled away from him, he kept on, saving people and hunting things. And now, the love of his life was a monster, but no way in hell would Dean let her stay that way.
Yet, they both kept fighting like hell, and they did it even better when they were together.
"They deserve so much better," Evangelina concluded, drawing both of their thoughts to a head. She placed her hand atop of his on the bed.
"It's gonna be okay Sam," she whispered.
Later, Sam would think back and question himself whether it was the three beers he had while researching, just the way she looked trying to comfort him, or the simple fact that he needed it that made him lean forward and smash his lips into hers.
Eva gasped, but her fingers quickly found his hair and they fell into a blissful kiss. They pulled away after a moment and Eva held him, telling him that his world was going to be okay, that his brother would be okay.

Dean found Carmen on the hood of her charger with a fifth of whiskey in her hand. When he got close, however, she picked up the bottle and threw it across the parking lot with all the strength she could muster. Dean watched the bottle shatter.
"That's not gonna help anything," he commented as he climbed up on the hood beside her.
"Well, it's not gonna help me any if it doesn't do anything for me," she said. The siren thing just keeps getting better and better.
They sat in silence for a long moment before Dean spoke his terms. "I won't kill anyone. I won't lay a hand on anyone for the ritual. But Carmen, you have to work with me," he explained. "If one of us gets real bad hurt, I won't hesitate, you hear? I'd save you in a heart beat. But other than that, it's whatever you wanna do. Your call."
Carmen studied him for a moment before she started to think about what she actually wanted to do. There wasn't much she had left. In all honestly, Carmen just wanted to go home.
"I wanna go home, Dean," she said quietly.
And Dean would take her home. Eva insisted on coming, but Dean didn't mind much. It seemed she had only been helpful. He insisted on making her sleep in the dungeon, however.
Dean and Carmen grew together again. Their first night home was a doozy, caught up in being away from each other for so long. There was something desirable for Dean about doing something as dirty as sleeping with a siren, and Carmen was simply happy to be held again. Every day, the couple got up and cooked breakfast for everyone.
Cas checked in every once in a while. He grew fond of Eva, approving of her staying and protecting the Winchesters.
After breakfast, Sam would find a case, and they would head out about an hour later. A week later, they were home, another monster taken down. Carmen came in handy, becoming pretty badass at putting humans and even demons in a willing trance.
One thought continued to remain in the back of everyone's mind. This blood thing couldn't last forever, and with one wrong move, Carmen could be the one they were hunting.
Dean would do something, as soon as he got the chance.
