"The stars will guide you on your way ,

Trust your wish upon a star ,

You have no need to be afraid ,

The stars will show you who you are".

The stars in the sky twinkled, millions of miles away from where Chihiro lay with her back against a jagged rock. When suddenly one abnormally bright star came tumbling down ,  Chihiro started to make a wish. But as she closed her eyes, the bright light engulfed her and her ability to think left her. She was left paralyzed in the light of a thousand stars.

She suddenly came crashing back to reality, where she heard an unfamiliar, yet soothing voice whisper her name. She already knew that this man, that was stroking her head was her soulmate before she even opened her eyes. She felt his warm lips on hers, they smiled and giggled as they lay under the beautiful full moon.

And then he vanished. Her wish upon the shining star had lasted but a moment before she felt her back against the jagged rocks again. It was like a vision. A glimpse into her future, that was just out of reach. She twisted her upper body and punched the rock with anger that had built over years of pain and guilt. Her bony knuckles turned purple and blood dripped down her arm as she cried herself to sleep.

When she woke, the sky was still dark as it always was and she prepared herself for another grueling day fighting for survival in this deadly wasteland. But when Chihiro stood up she realised  she wasn't in the wasteland she fell asleep in, she was in a forest where monkeys jumped from tree to tree like crazy and colourful parrots flew over her head.

She was in paradise, she smiled from ear to ear as the soft grass caressed her foot. She started walking up the path but zoned out and ended up on the ground looking up at the sky. What was happening to her? Her world was turning upside-down.

She jumped from the ground onto her muddy feet and behind the tree she noticed, him, the man from her wish, he looked at her and winked with his beautiful sky-blue eyes, Chihiro's favorite color. " Why are you disappearing, you coward, " she shouted at him as he began to vanish again. " Why are you so afraid of me leaving? " came an amused reply from right behind her. She felt his breath on her neck. He slowly planted gentle kisses on her neck, slowly walking around Chihiro. She closed her eyes, then the kisses stopped Chihiro's eyes opened, and her soul mate was nowhere to be seen. Her heart skipped a beat and her eyes filled with tears, " Stop teasing me. You are cruel. " " I'm not cruel. I'm trying to help you. Do you think you just appeared in paradise for no reason? To be honest, it wasn't my idea. I'm under orders to bring you to... but now that i see you, I... , " he broke off, as if battling his words, " I just... I want you to be careful. " Chihiro was confused. He was speaking nonsense.

"Be careful? Careful? How can i be careful, I lost everything you hear? " Tears were streaming down her face now, she was filled with rage that has built up in her that she couldn't tell anyone about, and now that she has the chance to speak to someone , she's spilling it all out. " My family, friends, home, everything, everybody... " She's now lying on the cold hard ground (Taylor Swift reference :D ) Tears still streaming down her face, she could feel his arms around her waist again. " It's okay. You're safe now. You won't be hurting anymore. I'll protect you. I promise, " he absent-mindedly  stroked her hair as she sobbed. " Thank you. " Chihiro wasn't sure what she was thanking him for but she was grateful. Even if it wasn't his decision. " wait, who are you taking me to? " "He's in front of you... In that palace in the distance" Further into the mountains, a beautiful building was glistering. It was beautiful.

Then someone appeared in one of the tower windows. She looked around as if she knew it was Haruko that appeared in the window, he was nowhere to be seen. " How do I know his name? He never told me his name, or did he? I'm so lost. Who even is he? So many questions, I can't answer..."

She decides to leave the questions and put her faith in something unknown for once. She looked around and her eyes caught upon a sparkling, blue lagoon just ahead. The sun glinted off it and it looked so perfect and tranquil and unlike anything she had seen in life so far, that she couldn't resist the urge to try it. She slipped out of her dress and sunk into the cool water that soothed her aching skin. Her silvery scars were highlighted by the sun, but Chihiro wasn't ashamed of them. They showed how far she had come reminded her that she was a survivor. She was strong. She would survive and she would live.
