Did I mention I go to Catholic school? It was my mom's dying wish that "I'd keep my faith in the lord after everything." My dad has never been one with religion, like honestly he never went to church before he married my mom, from what he tells me, and he hasn't gone since my mom died. Yet he still sends me to Catholic school, my brother didn't even go. She forgot about her older son in the dying wish.
But a challenge comes with Catholic school, if you like punk rock, you won't find anyone with your music taste. There were very few people in the entire school who would be willing to play songs that are anti-religion.
My only hope was people in my band class. I'm in the jazz band, we have 2 guitarists and 1 bassist, and to be honest I don't really know them. But if they play instruments they are pretty much qualified. Who knows maybe they like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles, I mean anyone who plays guitar does.
Band was my second class of the day, after Religion. It's kinda nice having religion first because I can catch up with sleep in there. 3 weeks into school and I already have a D in there, pretty funny if you ask me.
Anyway I told my religion teacher I had to go to the bathroom 5 minutes before class ended, so in other words I ditched. I headed to the band room and set up my drums before the others in the band showed up. It was all part of the plan.
The beginning of the band class involves a lot of goofing around because everyone is either setting up or tuning, and the teacher, Mr. Fisher, is rarely in the room. So if I'm all set up, I can blast some rock song from my phone and drum along with it. Maybe the guys would pick up on it.
The second I entered the band room I ran to the closet and set up my drums in 2 minutes flat. I sat behind the stool and warmed up with Fuck You by Bad Religion, honestly I would've played that when the guys came in, but I would be kicked out of school before it reached the chorus.
Once the bell rang I made up on my mind on Dani California, most people around here were pretty familiar with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I never became a huge fan, but hey, they're the reason I go by Dani with my friends from middle school. My school doesn't allow nicknames, so I'm stuck as Danielle here.
I played the song, with a little more anger, to make it louder. By the time I reached the chorus most, most of the people in my class were beginning to set up.

She's my priestess I'm your priest.
I noticed one of the guitarists looking at me, nothing from the other two guys. Once the song got to the guitar solo, Mr. Fisher opened the door, and I quickly shut it off and acted like the sweet little christian drummer girl I wasn't .
Day one in other words, was not successful.
