Pain.
Horrible burning sensations shot through my small frame. I tried to move my head, attempting to identify where I was, but the pain haulted me immediately. I had to depend on my eyes.
I looked down at my banged-up arms and legs, seeing that a large pile of snow had broken my fall. The cold erupting from the crisp powder battled against my heated skin.
Where were Mom and Dad? I needed to get up. I needed to find them, where ever they were.
I started to lift my right arm, slowly. A wave of heat staggered through it, causing me to yelp. Tears rolled down my cheeks, but I was determined to find Mom.
I bent my left leg, then my right, eventually reaching a sitting position. I could clearly see where I was, now.
I was in a forest, covered in a white blanket of frost, ice and snow. It was extremely cold, and my tears had frozen to my face.
"M-mom? Dad? H-help!" I squeaked. My teeth were chattering.
"Where are you!?"
Tears began flowing down my face, again.
"M-momma?" I choked through my tears.
I was lost, cold and scared. Where did the flower take me?
I cried, every so often calling out for my parents. I shouted and they never came, but someone else did.
A skinny figure towered over me. I squinted up at him, trying to focus my vision. I must have hit my head pretty hard...
"What's this? A human child?" his voice was calm and curious.
He crouched down to my level, looking me in the eye. The face that greeted mine was not what I had expected. He looked like something from those science books Dad reads.
"Hello, young girl. How did you end up here?" He grinned at me.
Tears continued to trail down my cheeks. Who was he? I was terrified. I just wanted to go home.
"Oh no! Don't cry! I didn't scare you, did I?" he asked, obviously concerned.
"W-where's daddy?" I sobbed.
His expression suddenly changed. He was filled with guilt and pity. He looked left and right, then up, then back down at me.
"D-did you fall down here?" he questioned.
I nodded slowly.
Unknown's P.O.V.
This poor girl...
I had hoped to find a human, but not like this. She looked only four or five years old. So young, yet she has fallen here.
She is scared, lost, injured. What am I to do? I can't just... leave her here. Yet, I cannot give her to the king either. She is too young to die, too young.
I took off my black sweater and wrapped it around the freezing youth.
Her guardians certainly wouldn't find her here, as painful as it is to say. There is no way to return her to the surface, now that the barrier traps us here.
She needs someone to raise her. She needs someone to care for and shelter her... It seems, that this is what I shall do. I'm sure Lucida wouldn't mind caring for this human. She is very welcoming.
"Do you have a name, child?" I asked, hoping to call her something other than 'child.'
"I-I d-don't know. I c-can't remember." she sniffled.
She must have had a name...
Poor thing, probably hit her head on the way down. Fuzzy memory."It's alright. Come here, I'll take you out of the cold. Does that sound alright?"
She nodded. I cautiously picked her up, trying not to hurt her, and held her in my arms.
"There, now. I'm sure you will get along fine with my sons." I assured her.
She grinned, tears still falling from her little eyes. I stepped through the snow, back towards home.
"Alright, alright. It's okay. Gaster's got you..."
