Abigail's P.O.V.
We were no longer in the forest, and we had approached a quiet little village. It felt very homely and welcoming, and I didn't feel quiet as upset.
"Here we are, in Snowdin! Not too much farther from home, young one. Lucida will heal you."
I removed my head from beneath his chin and looked up at him. Who was Lucida?
"Who is that?" I tilted my head slightly, in wonder.
"Lucida?" he looked down at me, grinning, "Why, she's my wife! I bet you'll like her."
We passed multiple buildings and homes. A few monsters had waved and greeted the man who saved me, but gave me strange looks. I guess I didn't look like them, after all.
We walked up to a small wooden cottage, covered in snow and icecicles.
"Ah. Here we are. Welcome to my home, child." He nodded at me, as he opened the door.
It felt nice to be out of the snow, and into this warm, cozy place. There was a small fireplace in the main room, popping and crackling every so often. The man placed me near the fire, and disappeared into the kitchen.
I put my hands up against the fire, embracing its warming glow. It gave me a chance to recover the many bruises and scratches on my arms. I suddenly heard mumbling in the kitchen, between the man and a woman. I listened closer.
"Lucida, as I was heading back from the lab, I found something." the man said.
"Hmm? What was it?" She sounded just as curious as the man.
"Well, you always said you wanted a daughter, correct?"
She gasped. Did she want a daughter as bad as I wanted brothers?
"You found a lone skeleton girl? Perhaps, an abandoned reptilian youth?" She sounded so happy.
"Not quite, my dear. I discovered an injured human child. Speaking of which, she could really use your healing magic at the moment." he explained, exiting the kitchen and approaching me.
His wife slowly followed him. Her eyes landed on me, almost immediatly. She looked disappointed, or maybe pitiful. I couldn't really tell.
"O-oh my! What a strange little thing. Had she fallen down here?" She bent down, examining me.
"I believe so, Lucida." the man said, looking down at me sadly.
"Well, I shouldn't waste anytime fixing her up! Come here, love. Let me take a better look at you."
She picked me up gently, and placed me on a wooden table by the front door. She rolled up my sleeves, exposing my multiple wounds. I winced slightly as she touched them.
"Oh dear. You took quite the fall, did you not?" She said, caressing my cheek.
I nodded, looking down at my feet. One of my shoes was untied.
"Alright, sweetie. Hold still. This may tickle a little." she warned, putting both of her hands together and summoning a little green ball of magic.
Before I knew it, I was surrounded by the glow, and she was right. It tickled. I began to giggle uncontrollably, as the glow consumed me, one limb at a time. I was cackling endlessly, as the woman smiled and the man laughed along with me.
The glow faded as quickly as it was formed, and I looked down at my arms again. The pain was gone! I looked like I had not even fallen. At this point, I had completly forgotten about my longing to go home. I was more interested in these nice people.
"Well, child, do you have a name?" the woman said, fixing my sleeves.
I thought for a moment. What was my name? It was on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn't remember it. Come to think of it, I didn't remember much before I woke up down here.
I shrugged my shoulders. The woman looked very confused.
"You don't? Oh, well if you are to stay here, and become our...daughter," she smiled softly, "then we will have to call you something! What do you purpose we name her, Gaster?"
"Hmm... I haven't thought of what to name her. Perhaps, Arial?" He said, stroking his chin.
"No, that's too common. Maybe, Cambria?" The woman suggested.
"Sounds a bit too formal, dear. How about..." he paused.
He studied me, slightly. Then, his face lit up.
"Verdana." he said, sounded very pleased.
"Verdana? That sounds...absolutely wonderful. I love it!" She said, turning to meet the man.
"Then it's settled. You shall be called Verdana."
The man picked me up and held me in his arms. I smiled. I liked the sound of that name...
Verdana.
