Anastasia

I was dancing in a field of freshly fallen snow with a boy my age with bright red hair and green eyes. I knew the boy but from what or where I could not remember. Soft Christmas music was being played in the background of the surreal environment.

"When will you return home Anastasia?" He asks.

The music we were dancing to suddenly changed to the loud sounds of rock music. The snow that was falling from the sky turned to ashes. The ground we stood on began to crumble away at our feet and the boy I was dancing with slowly started to fly away into the sky.

I woke up out of breath as if I was really dancing with the strange boy from my dream. The loud rock music was still playing and I looked over at my phone and saw that it was playing the music. I groaned and rolled over in my red and green comfier and grabbed my phone. Ignacio's face was on the screen and I hit the accept button as I placed the phone up to my ears.

"Dear god, short stop, I've called you three time this morning!" He screams into the phone.

"Golly Ignacio. Are you that excited to see me?" I giggle.

"No,"

"Why did you call me it is like five in the morning," I mumble while rubbing my eyes.

"Did someone not get enough beauty sleep?"

"What did you want?"

"So um, well... NO FELIZ NAVIDAD DON'T EAT THAT!"

I laugh into the phone.

"So what's going on there?" I ask.

"They knocked down the tree,"

"What?" I asked trying to shake sleep from my eyes.

"The kittens knocked over the Christmas tree..., Can they die from the tree?"

"I don't think so,"

"OH MY GOD YOU PUT MY CATS IN DANGER!"

"Golly. And not knowingly," I say back.

"It's god Anastasia, as in the person who was born on Christmas," He mumbles.

"OH MY GOLLY YOU KNOW WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT!" I scream.

"My ear drums woman!"

"OH MY GOLLY IGNACIO!" I sing as I hop out of bed.

"Can you just come over and help me with the tree?" He asks.

"Let me get dressed, I can be there in twenty minutes," I say.

"Thank god,"

"Bye Ignacio!" I say and hang up.

I get out of bed and take a quick shower and get dressed. I pull on my green pants and a red sweater and pull my curly hair into a high pony tail and put on a little makeup before running out the door.

"CANDY CANES I FORGOT MY COAT!" I yell when I run outside and the cold December air hits me.

I rush back into my house to grab my coat and begin the walk to Ignacio's.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

When I arrive I can hear running, yelling, and thumping coming from inside his house. I poke the button on his porch to ring the door bell and all the noise inside stops. I can hear the soft pattering of feet coming towards the door as I bounce up and down on his front porch. The door opens and I see Ignacio standing there his arms covered in scratches that are bleeding.

"Thank god you showed up,"

Ignacio

"Oh my golly, what happened to you?" Anastasia asks, staring at the cuts all along my arm.

"Well Noel likes to play and Eggnog didn't want to so I tried separating them and Noel bit my hand and then Feliz Navidad was eating the tree so I had to pull him away," I explained, wiping the blood on my coat.

"You know that you can get sick from cat bites, right?" She says.

"No, no, no. My kitties would never hurt me,"

Anastasia laughs and shakes her head before walking inside. I follow behind her as she looks at the destruction that is my home. I hear her gasp a little bit. All three of the kittens were laying on the couch, asleep, and Boo was in my hood.

"Well, they did some damage," Anastasia mutters.

"I know, now help me put the Christmas tree back up and tape it to the wall or something," I say.

She looks at me for a second in shock.

"What?" I ask.

"You asked me to help you put the tree back up, not take it down,"

"Yeah, so?" I ask.

"SO YOU DO LIKE CHRISTMAS!" she screams.

"No I don't. I just like the tree. It's cool and fits the rest of my house and the kitties look so cute when they are all cuddled up in it without knocking it over," I mumble.

"Whatever you say," she says with a big grin on her face.

She walks over to the tree and starts to pick it up. Some of the ornaments fall off and roll across the floor, causing Feliz to look up from where he was laying. He sets his head back down and I continue to watch Anastasia lift the tree by herself.

Now, I tried for thirty minutes to lift this goddamn tree and I couldn't get it off the ground. Anastasia comes over and lifts it no problem. I swear this girl has some kind of super power other than being able to talk passionately about talking passionately.

"Well, some ornaments are on the ground," she comments.

"I see that. I also cut myself on some picking them up,"

She nods and starts to pick up the ornaments. While she does that, I walk into the kitchen and start to make coffee. I grab the can of coffee grounds out of the pantry and set it on the counter. I pour more than usually needed and add the water and start making it. I start humming some tune that I don't exactly know when Anastasia comes running into the kitchen.

"ARE YOU SINGING JINGLE BELLS?" she yells.

"Um... I don't know what I'm singing," I tell her.

"IT WAS JINGLE BELLS!"

"Then why did you ask?"

"Because I wasn't sure but I am now,"

"Okay. Want some coffee?" I ask as the coffee pot beeps.

"Um, no,"

"Suit yourself,"

I grab a black mug and get some coffee and drink it without letting it cool down. This girl may have her super powers, but I also have mine.

"Um, your tree that has survived the depths of h*ll is up,"

"Oh okay thanks,"

She only hangs around for a little bit longer before deciding that she should go home and unpack some more considering she just moved here. If I'm being totally honest, I wasn't happy when she left this time.
