Zelda's POV
I tapped against the postbox, considering whether to post the letter or not. What if Link doesn't want to come? With a shaking hand, I posted the letter. "Well hello there your Majesty. What brings you out here on this fine day?" Asked the postman with his usual, kind smile. "Oh, nothing. I'm just posting this letter to a good friend of mine. Please make sure he gets the letter soon." I pleaded.
"A he? Ooooohhh, a love letter prehaps?" Asked the postman jokingly. I blushed "Uh - No, just a letter." I fiddled with my dress nervously. "I see. I'll get it to him as fast as I can. Enjoy your day, Princess." The postman said with a wink. "Goodbye." I replied, sighing. Please get the letter, Link.
Link's POV
"Wake up, sleepy head! It's morning Wednesday Workout!" Shouted an irritating voice. I looked up and saw Alfonzo with a whistle. He blew it hard and I held my ears as the horrible noise flew through the house. "Can ya keep it down?! I'm trying to make breakfast and I don't need the eggs to be even more scrambled than they already are!" Screamed Niko from the other room.
Wednesday Workout.. I sighed. Every Wednesday I had to to a pathetic workout with Alfonzo because, as he says, 'A hero needs to keep fit'. I sighed harder "Fine, I'll get up." Alfonzo blew the whistle again. "Good! Now hurry up and get dressed before I make your ears melt!" He yelled.
I quickly ran out of bed, not realising that I forgot to change out of my pajamas. "Enjoy your eggs." Said Niko. He was always kind enough to make me breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. I thought of him as a father and he thought of me as his son. "Thanks, Niko." I replied with a smile. I ate the eggs as fast as possible and sprinted outside to see Alfonzo crossing his arms angrily. "You're late! Start running around the village, five laps!" He yelled then blowed the whistle.
I swear, if he blows that thing one more time, I'll throw that whistle into the ocean! I sighed then started running as fast as my little legs could take me. Past, the houses, on the sand, I ran like the wind.
I soon ran past the station and saw the postman. "Hey, Link! What's up, running in the morning? Good lad!" He encouraged. "Thanks. Any letters for me?" I asked, while jogging on the spot out of breath. "Actually, yes. One from the Princess. She seemed really nervous about sending this, it might be a love letter. I remember having a love letter from a girl I knew, she dumped me for a cucoo she did. What a girl-" The postman rambled on as always. I interupted, excited to see the letter. My eyes grew wide at the thought of a 'love letter'.
"Please give me the letter." I said impatiently. "Yes. Sorry, Link." The Postman said while handing me the letter. I sighed "Thanks." and I kept running. I hid behind a house.
How will I explain this to Alfonzo? I Thought for a second.Oh yeah, I'll say I tripped over, broke my ancle and had to walk. I laughed to myself because of my lame excuse. I wonder what the letter will say. I hope it is a love letter, doubt it though. I quickly ripped open the letter, smelling the sweet smell of the perfume coming from it.
Dear Link,
It's been so long since we've seen eachother, hasn't it? I really miss you, Link, we're really good friends. I've been wondering if you wanted to come and visit me. You don't have to if you don't want to but Teacher says that tomorrow I have a whole day off. Maybe we could spend some time together for the day. If so, that would be great! Meet me behind the castle, I'll be waiting there.
Love, Zelda
My heart leaped with joy, my heart pounded fast. I can finally see Zelda again! Wait, she signed it with 'Love'? Does that mean ... No, she couldn't. Don't be a little kid, Link. But still, if she does love me, maybe I could find a way to show her that I feel the same.
I left so happy, it felt like I haven't been this happy in years. I packed the letter away and stumbled towards Alfonzo, limping like I've been badly hurt. "Link! Are you okay?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just twisted my ancle." I said in a stained voice. I may not be the best at acting, but from pretending to like Niko's 'wonderful cucoo soup' I may have gotten better than I thought. "Oh, I see. I guess I'll call the Wednesday Workout off then." Alfonzo said while scratching the back of his head. I secretly jumped with happiness on the inside. "OK, I'll go inside and see if I can treat my poor, poor ancle." I grumbled in my best acting voice.
................Hours Later..................
Zelda's POV
I was in the middle of my 'favorite' lesson: maths. I sighed hard. "If x = 7, what is the answer to 24 + 5x?" Teacher asked. I growled silently, I always hated maths. I liked many subjects - English, Art, Drama, Music - but I always hated maths. "Um ... 59?" I replied. I may hate maths but it doesn't mean I'm not good at it.
"Correct! Well done." Teacher congratulated, "well, that concludes our lesson. Remember that tomorrow you won't have any lessons or paperwork to sign. Any plans for tomorrow?" He asked. Should I tell him? It should be fine. "Well, I've decided to spend the day with Link around Hyrule." I spoke clearly.
Teacher sighed "You are growing up so fast. I remember Link, quite the engineer, eh? He should be able to take you around Hyrule easily." He stated. "Yeah, he's good at so many things: Riding a train, good with a sword, saving Hyrule and ... Stealing my heart.." I wondered off in to my own dream world. "Ehem, did you say 'steal your heart'?" Teacher asked sternly.
"Um.. Well, yes. Oh, Teacher, I really do love Link." I said again while drifting off. "I can tell, you're always blabbering on about him. I'm sure he feels the same." Teacher said while putting a hand on my shoulder. "R-really?" I asked, eyes wide. "Why of cource. He saved your life, well your body, no ordinary boy would step up to do that. I can tell he's very fond of you." Teacher said with a smile.
I jumped up with excitment. "Thank you, Teacher." I thanked for his kind words. "Anything for you, Zelda dear. Now, off to bed. It's late." I got up and walked away, "Goodnight, Teacher." I said while smiling. "Goodnight indeed."
The end of the second chapter. Sorry that it's a bit longer than the first, most of them will be this length or maybe longer. Hope you enjoyed!
