Chapter 5 Luke POV.

"Luke"

Too see her in person much less hear her say my name made my heart skip a couple beats.

Then she fainted. I hurried to her then closed and locked the door. She looked so peaceful and pure. Oh, how much i miss our late nights talking, the food fights we had, the kissing, the laughing. But most of all. Her.

FLASHBACK

"Clara I am going to find you"

"In your dreams lover boy"

Clara took off and I started to chase after her. She ended up trapped so i took her and tickled her.

"L-luke S-s-stop I-I-"

"You have to tell me i am the most handsome man alive"

"Fi-i-n-ne Jus-s-t St-o-op"

"OK" I stopped tickling her and waited for my compliment. But then she ran out of my grasp and headed toward the swings.

"Fine Clara, I surrender"

The look on her face was one i could easily wake up too every morning. If only she saw me as more than a friend

"Yes, now for my prize"

"And what might that be"

"You have to push me on the swings"

"Hmph, fine. Get on"

"Yey"

She clapped her hands like a 5 year old and hopped on the swing. We stayed at the park till sun set. She was on the swing and i was still pushing her.

"Hey Clara?"

"Hey Luke?"

"How do you tell someone you love them"

"Um... I would probably tell the person the different qualities that you love about them. Or take them by complete surprise."

"Ok. And what would that look like?"

"Why? Are you planning on telling Jessie that you love her"

She thinks i'm in love with Jessie? Oh my, if only she knew the half of it. Jessie was a fling that distracted me of the fact that Clara kept flirting with that one kid Sam.

"Who I am going to tell it to is none of your business"

"Gesh, ok. I don't know. As a girl i would probably want the guy to be direct and just tell me he loves me. No chocolates or flowers. Just him and his word."

That's it? That's all I had to do? Gosh i should have done that a while ago

"Hey Clara?"

"Yea?"

"I love you"

"Ha, um I love you too Luke. That was great practice. I hope the girl you are going to say it to loves you back."

"No, Clara. I mean it. I love you."

"I um...Like If you are pulling my leg here that is not funny"

"Why would it be funny"

"Don't play coy with me, apparently it's super obvious that i am madly in love with you. Tanner and Sylvia say so all the time"

"Wait... you.. you love me?"

I can't believe this is happening. The girl that i have loved since freshman year just said she is madly in love with me. I started to walk toward her with my heart set on a plan.

"Don't pretend like you didn't know. I can't believe you are teasing me like this, how could i have thou-"

I cut her off by picking her up and kissing her. In almost an instant she kissed back. This moment is one for the records. I broke the kiss and we both just stared into eachothers eyes for the longest time.

"I love you Luke"

"I love you too Clara"

I wish i could go back to those days. She might not even want me much less love me anymore. Especially because i ruined a year of her life making her think i was dead.

This is dumb, she is going to get hurt
