Jaelyn's POV

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYBODY! How is everybody's Christmas going so far? No matter what feeling you're feeling, you can still feel truly blessed because today is Jesus' birthday.

My siblings; Miguel, Kandi, Vera, Camille, and I are in our jammies and helping our parents to cook up breakfast at 6:15 in the morning. We're making French toast casserole, pancakes, frozen waffles, sausage links, Spam, scrambled eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls, hash browns, blueberry scones with the drizzle of cream cheese, and monkey bread smothered with caramel glaze. Our best friends; Kendra, Violet, and Jerry are sleeping over at my Mother's house, still dozing with their arms hanging off the couch.

Camille is baking a red velvet cake with a cream cheese swirl and let me tell ya; Camille is the second official baker in my family while I'm more of a cooker, who bakes in the oven and cook while I read interesting stories on Wattpad, for instance I love reading stories by Nicole McKoy, Julie Munich, E.L. James, Nicholas Sparks, and Danny Walker, himself after discovering that he also has a Wattpad page. Of course, I follow him. No, I don't mean, like, stalking! But following him as a fan of his work. I love reading Interracial Romance novels with the hint of Christian faith because I embrace my Christianity faith and I even have Jesus' faith fish tatted on my right wrist, feeling blessed to share my faith in Jesus.

"So, Jaelyn!" Camille sings.

"Yes, Camille?" I reply in a singsong manner.

"Are you super excited about going to the Christmas Gala with your date tonight," Camille queries. A loud chop on the cutting board interrupts my answer. "Who is going on a date tonight?" Dad huffs.
"Dad, my friend Danny and his sister Trisha invited me, Camille, Brayden, Paige, Kendra, Violet, and Jerry to the Christmas Gala at the Gotham Hall tonight. Plus, Trisha is inviting some of her clients and their children, so two caregivers can watch and dance with the kids at the same time. Trisha emailed me that she's the photographer for the Plus Model Magazine." I clarify.

"Does Danny have a last name or is he simply named Danny, like those artists who go by their first name? I don't know why artists perform with only their first names." Dad mutters.

"Does my Jaelyn finally have a man?" My mother speaks. My mother, Gloria is very scrupulous when it comes to her children facing personal and occasional crisis and very adamant of her children being judged and rejected by the wrong acquaintances turned enemies. "It's not like that, Mom. I'm just going on a date for one event tonight." I object.

"Jaelyn, you must go to the gala! Does this gala have a theme because I'll be darned if a party has no theme? If a party does not have a theme, it'll just be an ordinary party without a particular setting." Mom assures.

"Mom, did you hear?" I begin.

"Hear about what, honey?" Mom asks. "I got fired from the Coco Enterprises because she thought that I would have an affair with her husband and she called me a ghetto hippo ass because she does not want a 'ghetto hippo ass,' in her working environment and distrusts me for being plus sized! Can you believe that shit?!" I scoff as I'm squeezing the nozzle of whipped cream on top of the cheesecake and place it on the rack of the refrigerator.

"That arrogant diva fired you?! Uh-uh! Se essa cardela dispara um dos meus filho para polarizar a aparencia de seus corpos, ela vai ter que sofrer com punicao (If that bitch fires one of my children for biasing the appearance of their bodies, she's gonna have to suffer with comeuppance). Jaelyn, just because that she-devil is as skinny as a beanpole, does not mean that you could target skinny women as your adversary to your weight because you are still a beautiful thick woman." Mom advises. We are listening to the Christmas Song by Nat King Cole on Pandora and we are singing along the song when Michelle walks in the kitchen. "Merry Christmas, Auntie Gloria and Merry Christmas, family!" Cousin Michelle sings and gives each of us, including me when she sways her arms around me from side to side. "My Cousin Jaelyn's got a man?" Cousin Michelle interpolates the song; Chante's Got a Man. "What's this I hear about you guys going to the Christmas Gala at Gotham Hall tonight?" This girrrrl, child!
