Danny's POV

"What do you mean you're closing the case?!" I yell and slam the palms of my hands against the glossy wooden table top, not giving a flying fuck about the pain in my hands.

"Danny, calm down!" Miss Vivian shushes me and nudges her elbow against my arm. I rub my arm while Miss Vivian counsels, "I know you're upset, but yelling at Officer Martinez to reopen the case is not gonna solve your problems because anger doesn't solve problems for you." "Thank you, Mrs. Rodriguez." Officer Martinez gives Miss Vivian a brief smile before he turns to face my direction. "Mr. Walker, it's been seven months already and there are no witnesses coming forward and we didn't catch the person who vandalized your girlfriend's apartment." Officer Martinez reasons.

"You mean, Jaelyn and her cousin's apartment. They share the apartment together." I correct. Officer Martinez sticks the palms of his hands out in a surrender posture. "Officer Martinez, I know you're trying to help me calm down, but this is not a murder case; this is a vandalism case! And I know the person who did this to hurt my baby, Officer Martinez!"

"What is the person's name that you believe cause the damage to the Rodriguez cousins' apartment at the Silver Towers?" Officer Martinez gives me a perplexed expression on his face by furrowing his eyebrows and scrunching his nose up. I turn on the screen of my phone by tapping my finger twice times and tap on the Metro Web app to go on Facebook. Once I'm on Facebook, I tap on the search box to type the revealing vandal's name and to be sure, I check the person's profile to see if they post anything recently and they absolutely did just twenty three seconds ago. I give my mobile phone to Officer Martinez and he accepts it, adjusting his reading glasses and when he peers at the picture, a loud gasp erupts and his hand flies over his mouth, locking his eyes at me with his widen eyes.

"This woman looks similar to the woman on the most wanted paper my partners and I posted after the lynchings in North Carolina and in New York City almost ten years ago, but the twenty five thousand dollar reward was postponed because we couldn't find the woman and now that you found her, I'm delivering twenty five thousand dollars to you. Take your girlfriend out and save some of the money for your rent. The case is reopened!" Officer Martinez carries a gigantic bag of money and delivers it to me. Due to the bag of money being heavy, Miss Vivian and I lift the bag as it strains our backs.

"Thank you, Officer Martinez! Have a nice... day!" My voice strains and when Miss Vivian and I carefully lay the bag on the sidewalk. "Okay, Miss Vivian. Here are the keys to the trunk." I notify and hand my car keys to Miss Vivian, so she can open the trunk of my car and we lift the bag of money into the trunk. I can't wait to share the news to my il mio amore! She will be elated! But, first I allow Miss Vivian to drive my car to take her back to the condo she and Mr. Bernie share in Manhattan, New York. After that, I drive to work as an author for the Christian Love and Faith Publishing House that is not too far because the building is located two blocks from my house.

Jaelyn's POV

It has been seven months ever since my apartment has been vandalized and after I called the police, I immediately called my parents to tell them what happened and when they showed up at the scene, they already had two buckets of paint to match the white walls. It is now March and I'm editing my story about last year's trip to Pasadena, California as well as collaborating with Lauren and the models from Plus Size Magazine of Santa Monica. As I backspace and type some of the words, my ringtone of my phone plays and my eyes avert from the laptop screen to the caller ID. Danny's name appears on the screen and I pick it up by tapping the answer icon. "Hello, meu amante italiano (my Italian lover)!" My voice rises with excitement the same time butterflies flutter in my stomach.
