I sit on the cold floor waiting. Harley has fallen asleep, her head on my lap. I push her hair out of her face and she lets out a small snore. I laugh at how adorable that was and how much fun I'm going to have making fun of her tomorrow.
I am startled by faint footsteps, they get louder and louder by the second. If I'm being honest with myself, I'm scared shitless. I'm not drunk but Harley definitely is. What if it's some creeper who's going to kidnap us? I can't run away with her.
I am distracted by my thoughts and before I know it there is a figure standing right in front of me and out of instinct I cover my face with my arm.
"What are you doing?" A familiar voice says.
"Oh thank god, it's just you." I say relieved.
"Well duh it's me, you called me." Ashton says laughing.
I did call him, but he just got here so fast I didn't think it would be him.
"I know, you got here fast, that's all." I say softly.
"So you didn't just think I was about to murder you?" Ashton questions laughing at me.
"Well, not murder."

"Okay, well let's get Harley home, she has to open tomorrow."
"Morning sunshine!" I say in a mocking tone.
I take a drink of my freshly squeezed orange juice and wait for Harley to say something. She's fully dressed, her hair is a little out of place but for the most part she's presentable. And if I'm right she must have a serious hangover and she'll be in a grumpy mood.
She hold ups her finger and closes her eyes. "Don't." She lets out.
I raise my arms in defense. Well, I was right.
She takes the two pills I left on the counter for her and walks over to me and takes the cup straight out of my hands.
"Yes, go right ahead. Take my orange juice that I squeezed with my own two hands." I say sarcastically.
She looks at me and tilts her head. "First of all. You did not squeeze them yourself, there's a machine right there that does that for you. Second of all, did you really think I was just going to dry swallow these pills?" She says like I'm an idiot.
I smile at her. "First of all, I didn't even know there was a machine, so yeah, I really did squeeze them with my hands. Second of all, if you would have looked right here..." I say pointing besides me, "you would have seen that I made you your own."
She doesn't move but drops her eyes down to the cup. She shuts her eyes and accepts the fact that I just made her feel stupid.
"Sorry." She sighs. "I'm just hungover, you know."
"No." I say shaking my head. "I don't."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry again." She says scrunching her nose.
"Whatever. Anyway." I say trying to change the subject. "What are going to do today?" I say cheerfully.
"I am going to work. You, need to get out of the apartment and go do something." She says. She makes me feel like I'm such a loser the way she emphasizes it. But yeah, she's kind of right.
"Okay! Let me just go out and walk around by myself with no intended destination because that won't be weird!" I say with one of my renowned fake smiles that I know Harley loves so much.
"I hate when you do that." Harley tells me squinting her eyes,
"No you don't." I say blowing her a kiss.
She doesn't take it well, she flips me off right after with a fake smile.
"Oh!" She says remembering something. "You can go help Ashton paint one of the rooms. His old roommate just moved out so he's painting it white again."
"Um..." I say scratching the back of my head.
That's kind of weird isn't it? Just going over and being like, oh hey, I don't know you but let me help you paint your room. Yeah, that's for sure weird.
"I don't know, Harley. That's kind of weird isn't it?" I say resting my cup on the counter.
"Why would that be weird?" She asks taking a sip of her drink. "Wait, you don't like him do you?"
"No." I respond way to fast. "I mean, I'm just way too in love with myself to like anyone right now." I jokingly say.
I can't like him. I barely met him and I don't know anything about him. I mean, yeah, he's attractive but like I said, I don't know anything about him.
"Okay so then what's the problem?" She asks.
"Nothing. You're right. I'll ask if he needs help." I give in.
"Okay good." She rests her finished cup of oj on the counter. "Well I have to go."
"Wait!" I call out to her, taking the beanie I was wearing right off my head. "Here." I say tossing it at her.
She catches is and points at me squinting her eyes and nodding her head. Like a you-got-me kind of look. She closes the door right after and leaves me alone with my thoughts in the apartment.
Might as well go offer my help to Ashton, right?
