I waited about four hours after Harley had left to go to work to finally get up and get off the oh, so comfortable couch and stop watching reruns of one of my favorite shows, Friends. Harley likes to make fun of me saying that she's still surprised that I like a show like Friends because it's so cheesy. I was surprised myself that I loved it so much, many of my used to be friends would always recommend it to me but I never had the temptation of watching it. Until, one day I got so bored that I finally gave in and before I knew it, I was already on episode thirteen. I even got all my siblings watching it with me.
I fold the blanket that I had been using and lay it on the arm rest of the couch. I slip on my shoes and make my way towards the door, stopping when I see my reflection on the mirror next to it. My hair is a disaster, I had forgotten that I gave my beanie to Harley and my hair is a flat mess. I run towards my room and grab a blue Dodgers cap off of one of the hooks besides my dresser. I push it upon my unruly hair while looking at myself in the mirror, I give myself a quick wink and run back to the front door.
I stop right before opening the door to catch my breath. Wow. I am so out of shape, maybe I should go for a run later. Who am I kidding that won't happen.
As I am opening the door, Ashton comes out of his own apartment. He doesn't see me for a few seconds but when he finally does, he face forms a smile, to be polite, I'm sure. "Good Morning." He says with a cheery voice.
"It's noon." I say laughing.
He gives me a puzzled look and directs his attention towards his watch. "Oh, it is." His eyebrows raise in surprise. "Were you going somewhere?" He asks.
"Yeah, I was gonna ask if you'd like some help painting your guest bedroom. Harley told me you were going to be doing that so I wanted to come ask."
He gives me an apologetic look, "I was just gonna let whoever my next roommate is worry about that. It makes more sense."
Well, there goes my plan for the day. "Oh." I say, I can feel my cheeks heating up in embarrassment. It's not that big of a deal, really but for some reason the way he said it, in some way it just felt like I was being rejected. "I'm going to go for a walk then. It's a nice day anyways." I simply say before making my way down the stairs, which happen to be located right next to our apartment.
As, I reach the bottom steps I continue walking, thinking of ideas of what to do or where to go. I guess I can just go visit Harley at work or maybe even go see Clar- "Wait!" My thoughts are cut off. I hear heavy footsteps behind me and when I turn around I see Ashton chasing after me. When he finally catches up to me I can clearly hear him panting. He bends down putting his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath. I smile at this action, reminding me of myself a couple minutes ago. "I really, need to go for a jog, this is ridiculous!" He says in between breaths.
"You and I both." I say chuckling.
"I usually don't get tired this easily but it's early and I didn't stretch or anything," he explains himself.
"Well, of course!"
Ashton rolls his eyes, catching onto my sarcasm. "Anyway, I was thinking of painting my own room. You can help me pick a color if you want?"
He didn't seem like he was planning on doing that a few seconds ago, if he was why wait until I was almost gone to ask? Deciding that I don't want to make him change his mind.
"Sure." I shrug, continuing to walk.
"It's actually this way." Ashton says pointing in the opposite direction.
"Right." I say turning around and walking next to Ashton.
