Harry, Ron and Ginny decided to drop the conversation about Head Boy, so Hermione settled down and took a nap while the others conversed in hushed tones.
"Hermione. Hermione, it's time to get up we are almost there." Ginny said while gently shaking the girl.
"Okay I'm getting up" She whined back in a sleepy voice.
She slowly pulled herself over to her trunk to get her robes out and got dressed. Soon after the train can to a smooth stop and she grabbed Crookshanks and got off.
"First years. First years over here. The rest of ye head to the carriages." Yelled Hagrid over the crowed of students.
Harry watched the small crowd of first years head over to Hagrid and then turned to follow Ron and Ginny to the carriages. Hermione stopped to watch the scene unfold as she saw a flash of blonde brush past her. She woke up rom her daze and hurried to catch up with her friends.
"That was us. Remember that? I can't believe time has past us so quickly like that. I don't think I'm ready for this to end." Said Harry rubbing his head.
"It's okay mate. We still have a whole year left. Enjoy it." Ron said trying to lighten the mood. "Come on let's go find a carriage before we have to start the year off by walking to the castle."
They all found an empty carriage and greeted the thresal before getting in. Almost everyone could see the thresals now. Last year changed that for many.
"Hello Hermione, do you have any more room in you carriage?" Asked a dreamy voice.
"Oi, hello Luna and Neville. Of course! Come on before it leaves."
Both of them climbed on and soon enough they started to move toward the castle. Neville and Luna sat silently holding hands as did Harry and Ginny. Hermione started to think about that. How she wished to have someone that would look at her like that. Someone to trust. Someone she could fall asleep next to and feel safe. Someone to bring her to life. Silly Hermione you need to focus on studies. A boy can wait. But what if? Oh well no. It can wait. Grow up you sound like you're 12 she mumbled, scolding herself.
"We are here." She announced as she hopped down from the carriage. She turned to wait for the rest to hop down. Then they headed up to the main doors where Head Mistress McGonagall waited to direct the students.
A small group of first years stood huddled in front of her watching the other students enter the castle. Hermione smiled at them as she past them an then headed into the Great Hall for the feast.

"Good evening students. Please quiet down. Before we begin our feast, I have some announcements to make. The forbidden forest is off limits, of course you know that. You don't want to know what creatures dwell there. Also the Prefects bathroom. If you are found in places you shouldn't be, there will be punishments. Oh and congratulations to our new Head Boy and Girl, Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy. Now students before you get upset, I'm not going back on my choices. I trust them completely. If you have questions please ask them. Thank you and enjoy your feast." And with that she pulled out her wand and with a swish the food popped up onto the tables.
"MALFOY? WHY MALFOY?" Ron asked in a surprised tone.
"Ronald! Be nice. He could be different. You never know. You saw how he was at the end of the battle. Did you not see his parents and how worried they were. They just wanted out." Snapped Ginny. "Hermione are you going to be okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just surprised" She answered completely zoned out.
"Well if you need anything, we are here to help you."
After their small talk, they began to eat and make other small talk with Dean and Seamus.
"Go on up the tower. I have to talk to McGonagall. I'll meet you later." Hermione reassured them as she turned to head off to the Head Mistresses Office.
She ran up the deserted steps and listened to the sound of her feet hitting the stone. Reaching the corridor she saw the stone gargoyle. "Lemon drops" She said clearly. The gargoyle leapt aside and she stepped inside.
Malfoy was already there sitting in one of the two chairs in front of McGonagall's desk.
"Good Evening Ms. Granger. Please have a seat."
She slowly walked over the the other chair next to Malfoy and took a seat.
"Now I would like to congratulate the both of you on this big accomplishment. I hope you will both treat this position with care and responsibility. Now I hope there won't be a problem between you too?" She questioned looking between the two of them.
"No Ma'am we will be fine." Answered Malfoy with a straight face.
Hermione looked over at him from the corner of her eye with surprise. He looked back and gave me a small nod. His eyes blank.
"So I will now escort you to your new living quarters for this year. "
The three of them walked down the 5th floor corridor and stopped in front of a portrait of Snape.
"Good evening professor Snape." McGonagall greeted.
"Good evening Headmistress"
McGonagall then turned to Draco and Hermione who waited patiently behind her. "Please note that this password shall not be given to anyone else. It's Mandrake. You will find that your trunks have been placed inside your rooms. Any questions?" She looked at they pair expectantly.
They both shook their heads no.
"Okay then. I'll let you two explore." And with that, she walked away.
"Hello Mr. Malfoy. Ms. Granger " spoke Snape
"Professor" Hermione said nodding curtly.
"Password?" He asked.
"Mandrake" said Malfoy.
The portrait opened and they walked in.
