Chapter 1: All About Veronica

My life has always been perfect. I was blessed with pure beauty and filthy rich parents. I could swear I am God's perfect human but that would be bragging. I used to always think this way until something happened. I never knew this would happen but maybe it was for a good reason. This is my life and I want to tell you this tale.

September 12

It was the first day of eleventh grade and I earned my driver learner's permit over the summer. Daddy bought me a new black Cadillac so my friends and I can travel in luxury. When I pulled into Jefferson High School, I was the hottest thing on campus.

Everyone stared at me when I got out the car. I even gave the Nerds of JHS a wink when I walked toward the school.

"Hey beautiful," said a voice from behind while I felt arms wrap around me at my locker. I turned around. It was my boyfriend of eighteen months, Trey Front. He was captain of the basketball team and like every jock he had a passé of other jocks always with him. They were down the hall waiting for him.

"Hey babe," I said as we kissed.

" So I heard you got your permit over the Summer," he told me. I nodded to show he was correct.

"Why don't we use it this weekend?" Trey asked. "The new Superman movie is coming out. We can go with a few friends."

"That sounds great," I agreed.

"So this Saturday?" he asked.

"Yep."

"Good. See you around."

We kissed again and as Trey walked off he pushed one of the quiet guys, Alex.

"Watch where your going butt wipe!" Trey yelled as he walked off to meet his passé of jocks.

Alex looked at me with anguished eyes, " He's such a charmer."

I tried not to care when I actually did but I still ignored him. I closed my locker and met with my group of friends to walk to Sociology

"What is the greatest thing we, as humans, are giving in life?" Mr. Johnson, the Sociology teacher, asked.

A couple of hands raised.

"Yes, Johnny."

"Money."

Laughter spread through the class.

"No. Uh, Monica."

She hesitated but answered. "Choice?"

"Yes," Mr. Johnson said. "That is exactly right."

Monica, my friend for five years, was always right. Out of my group of ten friends she was the smartest.

"You see," the teacher continued. "We were all given a choice from the beginning of time. From picking out clothes. To choosing the love of your life.

"What does this have to do with Sociology you ask? Well, your choice affects every one around you. So what I am saying is." He stopped and it seemed like he looked right at me.

"Choose wisely."

Riiiinnnnng!

"Alright, dozers. Get to lunch."

Stacy, another friend of mine, came up to me.

"Did you see the way he looked at you?" She asked.

"Yeah, but don't worry about it. I will choose wisely," I said mocking Mr. Johnson.

"Hey get ready for the movie on Saturday," said Stacy excited. "We might go to a club afterwards."

"Sure, I'm excited."

"Great 'cause remember you're driving."
