Too many compliments

"I don't want you to do anything stupid. You know even though your family is not by your side you have your friends. You have Michael and me also." Ethan said as soon as we left for my house confusing me.

"W-what-d" I was perplexed as to why he just told me this and what he meant by something stupid. I was sure that my bewilderment was clear on my face as he cut me off and proceeded to talk. There was no fun or joy in the way he was talking which was pretty weird as Ethan was never seen like this. He was the type of guy who would smile like crazy at the weirdest situation and be the first one when it would come to mischief. He was a grownup who was full of life like a child.

"My sister had committed suicide" He said catching me off guard.

"What?" I reacted instantly. "I'm sorry I mean- I" I added quickly realizing that it wasn't the best reaction but it was hard to digest that there was something like this that was hidden behind a very cheerful Ethan, running out of words afterwards.

"It's okay I know it was hard to believe but she was a replica of you Alyssa. She was always left at my aunt's since my parents would always travel and since my sister was old enough it was assumed that she would be able to take care of herself as long as she has a roof on her head and as for me I had to tag along with my parents since I wasn't like they had put it old enough to take care of myself"

"Why did you say that she was a replica of me?" I asked as I realized how messed up everything can be.

"We used to be very close and she wouldn't hide anything from me. Unfortunately it was only after I turned 15 that she started to be open with me and I got to know that she wasn't happy at my aunt's. They used to treat her like shit and the last few days that we talked she would always tell me that she feels scared and wants me to come to her but like always mom and dad were more concerned about their happiness as they love travelling. I was going to be sent home as soon as I turned 16 too but I couldn't wait for one more year I wanted to see Aubrey, my sister so I did what I thought was right. I would do exactly the things that my parents wouldn't like as a way of threatening them because their reputation matters a lot to them and they were ready to take me to Aubrey. I was so happy and after so many days Aubrey also was being her jovial self. That day, as soon as I reached at my aunt's I started looking for Aubrey. My aunt, uncle and cousins were at work so we went to take the keys from my aunt's to surprise Aubrey only to find out that she was laying lifeless in the bathroom her wrist stained with blood. Later I found a letter from her and turns out my so called cousin had raped her."

"I-I" I wanted to talk to Ethan but I didn't know what to say not that I was being able to talk also. Everything just felt stuck in my throat and I was painfully feeling it also. I was never waiting for something like this to come out of Ethan's mouth.

As if sensing my uncertainty about not knowing what to say, Ethan asked me not to say anything. What could I have ever said also? I am sorry? It's not like saying that I was sorry would bring back her sister. If only it could.

"You can give me a hug though" Ethan being Ethan said instead rolling his eyes.

I leant over and hugged him without hesitating and added. "Don't roll eyes. It's my specialty"

"Now it's mine and get away from me now you stink" I gasped at what he said because I don't stink. People can't stink when they're not sweating. They can? I don't know but I wasn't stinking anyway.

"Ethan if you want to get back to your place in one piece you better shut your mouth and one more thing go get your nose treated BECAUSE I DON'T STINK"

"Oh yeah you're right you don't" He agreed with me. He just agreed with me and by what I know when someone agrees with you on the first try itself something is surely going on in their mind.

"Why did you just agree with me?" I asked him suspiciously.

"Because you just shouted it out that you don't stink?" He replied but more like replied with a question and we both burst out laughing at our childishness when Ethan's phone started to ring.

"It's Michael" He said when he glanced at the screen. He gave me the phone as soon as he picked up the call.

"Where the hell is your phone?" A not so gentle yell came from the other side. I quickly removed my phone from my pants to see that I had 3 missed calls from Michael but I don't know how I didn't feel it vibrating.

"Sorry I didn't feel it vibrate. Is there something wrong?" I asked thinking that there was something wrong since he called so many times and even on Ethan's phone also.

"No I just had to tell you that..." I kept waiting but he never completed the sentence.

"That what?"

"I am missing you" I blushed at this even though it's only through the phone that he said that but it's involuntary I can't control my blushing especially not when the guy who just asked me to be his girlfriend says that he misses me after not even an hour.

"I knew you would. Who wouldn't miss me?" If you thought that I was going to say that I miss him too then you were wrong because I don't like all these cheesiness.

"Whatever. You better keep your phone with you next time"

"Yeah I will and I'm missing you too" What? A person can change temporarily.

"Please refrain from having sex on my phone" Ethan said which earned him a disgusted look from me and I could hear Michael who was going out of breath because of laughing too hard. I hanged up and gave my complete attention to Ethan.

"Your face looks puke-worthy" He added and that was all it took for a punch to land on his jaw. A girl cannot bear all these compliments in only one day. Note the sarcasm. But, I doubt my punch can even do a tiny winy bit of damage to his face.

Sorry for a late update and short chapter also...am just a bit busy but I thought that a short chapter would be better than nothing anyway I hope that you enjoyed!!!
