(The next day, 2014)
"Music period! YAY!" I exclaim.
"The BEST period ever!" Zulaiqhah shouts back.
Mrs Wong came into the class with papers in her hands.
We stand up and greet "Good morning, teacher."
"Good morning, class. Please be seated."
We sit down, intrigued by what we will do on that day.
"Do you know that the school's singing competition is in a few weeks? I have auditions!" Mrs Wong says.
"For how many?" Joanne asks.
"5 left. Whoever wants to audition, please come over here to get your slip."
"Shanen!" I shout.
"What?" she replies.
"You should totally go audition." Zulaiqhah says.
"If you do, you'll hands down GET to compete." she continues.
"Nah, I don't want to." she says.
"Uhm, yeah you want to." Zulaiqhah and I both reply.
"Even if I audition, what song do I sing?" Shanen asks. Ugh, excuses.
"How about Payphone?" suggests Zulaiqhah.
"No."
"Hmm... Someone Like You?"
"Nope. I'm looking for something special."
"Oh... Moon River?"
"I don't know that song."
"I Will Always Love You??"
"That song's too hard to sing."
"Over The Rainbow?"
"Oh. The one from The Wizard of Oz?"
"Yeah."
"Try to sing it!" Zulaiqhah says.
Shanen cleared her throat.
Somewhere, over the rainbow.
Way up high.
We could not resist but sing along.
There's a land that I heard of,
Once in a lullaby.

Skies are blue.
And all dreams that you've dared to dream really do come true.
When we finished the song, I smiled brightly, because I felt so relaxed.
"You wanna audition, right?"
"Oh heck yeah." Shanen stood up and walked over to Mrs Wong's desk to take a slip.
"Problem solved! OOHHHHHHHH!!" I hi-fived Zulaiqhah.
I felt GOOD.
