••• Y/N's POV•••
A few hours have passed since the match. I vomited a bit, but that's a given, of course. Later, as I walked through Resembool, there was a sudden wind, causing something to slap my ankle. Looking down, I realized it was a photo of Trisha Elric with her sons. I looked at it, smiling, but then realized:
I haven't gone to say hi to her yet.
Yes, that was probably a very insignificant thing and shouldn't have caused such a strong reaction in me, but it felt like it was disrespectful, in a way.
So there I was, at exactly 11:00, the moon shining on the tombstones, with a paper, a pencil, my wand, and a head full of ways in which I could say hi.
Then I sat there. It felt awkward, it really did, knowing that she didn't know who I was, yet I knew so much about her. After what felt like an eternity, I cleared my throat, saying
"So... You...don't know me. But, just saying, I know you. Yes, I'm aware of how much of a stalker I seem, but before I didn't know you were all truly... There. This place felt so distant to me, like a sort of fairy tale. I should... I should know better, though. Up until age 11 I thought the great Harry Potter was fictional, am I right? Now-now look at me, a fourth year in Hogwarts! Keeper extraordinaire! I practically live with the Weasleys!
"But that-that doesn't mean anything around here. I'm just a random person here who happens to know a great deal about other people I shouldn't have known about."
I stayed silent for a while, watching the night sky, before I whispered:
"I'll tell you this, though: I wouldn't have it any other way. I may not know you directly, Ms. Elric, but I'm glad I got to know who you and your family are. You're all such great people. None of you ever deserved to witness such things- the ones you have and the ones you will."
I paused, although I don't know what I expected: a response? Really, I should've known better. I laughed a bit and said
"This may seem weird, but I found a photograph of you, and I thought it would be nice to draw you. Only thing I'll change is the hair. We don't want any more ponytails of death, now, do we?" I said, laughing to myself as I got to work, humming as I went. First the outline, then the nose, eyes, lips, hair, etc.. As I drew the shape of her right eye, I told the stone: "You know two people you would've loved? Lily Evans and Nymphadora Tonks. I mean, they're...you know, like you, so you may have met them already, maybe."Speaking about that, this may sound a bit morbid, but since there's always at least one dead mother in all the series I've seen or read, is there, like, a sort of mother club up there? Because that would honestly be pretty cool, and I'd like you to say hi to Ryouko-San and Lily and Tonks for me. Ooh, and maybe Rosa Hubermann!"
It went on like this, me throwing out random theories of afterlife or more gates or extraterrestrial life as I drew. When I finally finished, I decided to put a little special touch on it before I left.
As I stood up, my hands fumbled in my pockets as they pulled out my wand. "Expecto Patronum" I whispered as I left, leaving a shining silver otter swimming through the air, shining upon the portrait left there, bearing the words:
Free at last, free at last.
Thank God almighty,
We are free at last. And still, no one noticed the pair of eyes in the shadows, glinting maliciously in the night.
