~Dan's POV
I leaned up against the stone wall of the hidden dark alley, making me invisible. I had been waiting here for hours, getting more impatient as every second passed. I thought that it would be quick, that's why I picked tonight, but I was wrong. I rubbed my hands together and brought them up to my face. I gently blew on them, the comforting heat of my breath helping to warm my frigid fingers. It had just snowed, so the temperature was low, making it even harder to wait around.
I often didn't do it this way, I had a normal strategy. Wait until they have gone off on their own, preferably into a isolated area and them quickly take them out. Simple and painless. Well, for me anyways. But sometimes that didn't work, like today. He was in a bar with other guys, and I was hiding outside, lurking in the darkness just like he did before hurting all those people.
He was dangerous, crazy, lethal. And he had to be terminated.
I ran his profile through my brain for the hundredth time, making sure I didn't forget what he looked like. I wanted to know that I wouldn't make a mistake and target the wrong guy. I don't kill the innocent, I kill the guilty.
The music in the bar thumped loudly, so loud that I could hear it through the thick walls of the building.
I couldn't see anything, only the strange silhouettes of objects in the dim yellow light of street lamps. It reassured me, making me confident in the fact that I was unnoticeable.
My heart jumped and began to beat faster as I heard the sound of the bar's door opening and what seemed to be a man stumbling out. It could've been him, or just a normal drunk.
I inhaled sharply as I scanned his outfit, confirming that it was in fact, the killer I was looking for. He began to make his way slowly down the sidewalk and I hesitantly followed, doing this enough times to know what to do. Don't get to close and don't fall too far behind. You can't let them see you, but you also don't want to loose track of them.
I shielded my face with my grey hoodie, now making my face nothing but a dark shadow. It was utterly quiet, apart from the low hum of the city and the intoxicated man's loud footsteps echoing along the abandoned street. He still hasn't seen me, which worked in my favour. I didn't want to attack yet, as anyone could drive by and catch me. I had to be careful. I had to time it right.
After a few agonizingly slow minutes, he turned into a small pathway, leading into somewhere unknown. I still pursued him, not fearing the darkness swallowing me whole.
We were finally alone, now was my time to take him down and make him pay for what he'd done. I slowly began to pick up my pace, shortening the already little distance there was between us. He was still oblivious, drunk out of his mind. I hated that he wouldn't feel it as much, but it was too late to turn back now.
I counted down in my head as I slipped my frozen hand into my pocket, grazing my gleaming weapon.
5... I was close now. I could smell the liquor radiating from him.
4... I felt ready. I knew I had to do this.It was the right thing to do.
3... I could hear my heartbeat ringing in my ears and my blood pumping through my coursing veins.
2... I raised my arm high above my head and thrusted down with a grunt.
1... At the last moment, he turned to face me.
0... Blood. Blood everywhere.
I staggered back as I heard him cry out in pain and hit the ground. It only took me moments to recover, but he was already trying to get away, trying to escape me. I moved forward and pushed him over with my foot hard, causing him to roll over and lay on his back.
I can see the blood seeping from the back of his head, making a puddle around him. I crawl on top of him and put pressure on him, keeping him in place so he doesn't get away. He was oddly quiet, but not dead yet. I could see him furiously blinking in the little light that seemed into the pathway. He was in shock.
I tightened my hand around my weapon once again, the sharp blade now covered with his tainted blood. I nearly raise it again to end his life, but stopped.
He was starting to say something.
I leaned down carefully and brought my ear close to his mouth. He was mumbling something in between subtle cries of pain, but it was too hard to make out. I paused for a moment, letting my curiosity get the best of me.
Finally, I make out what he said to me, and a plethora of emotions overtook me all at once. I snapped my head away from him, still in shock at what he'd uttered to me. Before I can say something back, he simply repeats it, as if taunting me.
He said in a slurred voice, "You'll never get away with this. You will burn in hell..."
Without thinking, I look him dead in the eyes and brought my knife down again, hearing the slice of his flesh as I cut deep into his rough skin. I keep the blade in his chest, only long enough to say something back to him, needing to get the last word.
As I rip it out and see the last strand of life drain out of him I say "Don't worry, I plan to. And I'll see you there..."
He was lifeless. Dead.
My job was done.

Idk why I made this so intense, it just kind of happened. Anyways, hope you liked this (very dark) chapter. New one (hopefully) coming soon :)
