I burst through the doors of my house at exactly 3:00. First day of school and I’m already exhausted and my feet are killing me!
Kicking off the snug flats, I make my way, slightly limping to the refrigerator. I pull out the milk and pour myself a glass. Before forgetting, I walk to my parents’ room and empty my bag of all the papers I’d collected from school.
They can deal with this mess, I think sulking up the stairs, dragging my bag behind me. When I get to my room I find my bed was still messy from that morning. Sunlight was streaming into the room hitting my bed so that when I lay down the covers were nice and warm, a good change from the frigged temperatures of the school. Eyes heavy and slowly closing, I start to fall asleep. Faintly I heard the side door open and close.
"Who left the milk out again?" A voice calls, but I was already out.
~
"Wakey, Wakey..." Says a soft whisper, "Come on Spencer you can't sleep all day...dinners ready."
I sit up and glance at the clock, 6:00.
"Yeah, that got you up, come on." Jesse stares down at me laughing, before turning and heading out the room.
I wait until I hear footsteps hit the bottom of the stair. Standing up stretching, I take in the room. It looks completely different, but the same. It was darker and all the shadows had stretched to reach the other side of the room and were climbing up the wall. I rub the sleep out my eyes and head down stairs.
The smell of the food drifted through the house. A plate of my mom’s spaghetti is sitting on a plate waiting for me. Everyone had already taken their seats and is laughing, enjoying their meal. It was a picture perfect moment two happy parents with a star son, wish I had my camera.
I take a seat and my dad looks up from his plate. His dark happy eyes fall on me. “There’s our sleeping beauty."
Yawning I reply sarcastically “Yep. Here I am,"
He doesn't seem to notice. Turning to my brother he asks, “So Jesse, how was practice today?"
"Just talked about the homecoming game, and how important it is." Jesse says.
Homecoming, one of our biggest games of the season, followed by the not so big homecoming dance. Last summer me and some friends were going to dress up and eat out then hang at someone’s beach house. Now I'll probably end up studying for some stupid AP test, besides its happening so soon this year anyway.
“Trust me, Memorial has nothing on ya'll!" My dad replies firmly.
"I got ranked fourth in my class today in tennis." I blurt out.
“That’s great sweetie, Jesse are you ready for that game its real close..?" He says not taking his proud eyes off of my brother.
I glanced at my mom who was wearing an apologetic grin on her face. Shaking my head I dive into the spaghetti.
After dinner, I head to the bathroom. I turn on the shower and step in letting the hot water pour on my back. Tiredness quickly feels my eyes again and feeling as though I might fall asleep in the bath I quickly clean myself and step out.
After drying I pull on a tank top and pajama bottoms. I head to my closest and pick out my outfit for tomorrow. While deciding, Jesse walks in and starts opening my drawers.
I stare at him for a moment, shocked. I'll admit we'd become close seen I started high school last year, but that didn't give him permission to go through my socks.
"Umm, sorry to interrupt your whatever, but what the hell are you doing!" I yelled sleepily.
He jumped, apparently surprised that I’d be in my room. "Oh I need to borrow some sock."
“For what?” I ask annoyed.
“I need some for you know, crazy sock week. Oh and me and Matt need some for a science experiment." He explains flashing a smile.
“Science experiment? So you want me to give you my socks so you can stretch the out with your big feet.”
“Yep, and your feet aren't that small either.”
I glare at him, suddenly self conscious of my feet," Why can't you just use your own?”
"One I have no crazy socks and two why would i want to ruin my socks?" he flashes another smile.
“Get out." I say shoving him towards the door. Just before slamming it in his face I remind him, “You have another two weeks before Homecoming week starts. Get a job and go buy some, dumbass!" I swiftly turn and kick the door shut with my foot.
I fall into my covers that were now cool. For some reason I feel a sense of disappointment for suddenly, like I missed or forgot to do something. I shrug it off and think about the homework I’ll have to start tomorrow and the class lectures I’ll have to listen to. As I drift I think of the class I’d dread the most would be Spanish. Blank blue walls flash in my head. Blue walls, white boards, Mrs. Baird and her gray hair, the rows of desk and those big gray eyes...

I know it’s a little short, sorry about that :/
Hoped you liked it anyway :)
