Chapter 7

As much as I didn’t want to get up early, knowing what the day had in store made it easier to get out of bed. As far as Dylan knew, we were just going to do some more sight seeing today around NYC and probably end up watching a movie at night again. He, however, did not know just what I was capable of.

I was up by seven. I hopped into the shower as fast as I could, making sure I got clean, but taking as little time as possible doing it. From having my windows open, I could tell it was going to turn out to be the perfect summer day, which meant my secret plan was still a go.

My Minnesota Twins shirt and shorts seemed like appropriate attire for the day. Once I had my clothes on, I went to work getting my makeup on and doing my hair. Knowing we would be spending all day outside, I went for the more natural look. When I looked at the clock it was already almost eight o’clock. I finished up a couple things around the apartment, made sure I had everything I needed for the day in my purse, and I was off.

Banking on the fact that Dylan wouldn’t even be up yet, I stopped at the Starbucks near my apartment and grabbed two muffins along with two coffees. From there, it was off to his hotel.

“Good morning and welcome to the Sheraton of New York. How may I help you,” said the receptionist at the desk.

“Hi,” I said. “I am so sorry to bother you, but I went out to get coffee for my husband and I, and I forgot my key. I called my husband to let me in, but his phone must have died or he is in the shower. Could I possibly get another key?”

“Oh no problem dear. Just give me the room number, and I will have you on your way.”

            “Thank you so much!”

Once she gave me a key, I ran to the elevator. It was only a couple minutes until 8:30. Please don’t be up yet, Dylan…

I slide the key card into the door as slow as I could. When I got the green light, I slowly pulled down the handle, opening the door for what seemed to be like millimeter by millimeter. When it was open far enough to see the bed, I could see Dylan’s body still under the covers and soft snoring coming from the bed as well. Plan still intact.

When I got all the way and confirmed he was still asleep, I quietly put my bag, along with the coffees and muffins on the desk. He looked so peaceful sleeping (shirtless may I add), that I didn’t want to wake him up, but I couldn’t wait to see the look on his face when he found out what we were doing today.

I quickly slipped off my flip flops, walked over to the bed, and slowly crawled into his arms. He still seemed out of it, so I gave him a soft kiss on the lips hoping that would wake him up. He slowly opened his eyes, and when he saw it was me, kissed me right back.

“Good morning there beautiful,” he said in a groggy morning voice.

            “Hey there handsome.”

His face slowly went from happy to confused.

“How did you get in here,” he asked. “I didn’t give you a key did I?”
