AN
I know this is like the biggest cliché everPhil laid in his bed awake at 3AM. It was two days until Christmas, but he wasn't excided. He was annoyed. It wasn't because it was snowing and he hated snow. Phil loved the snow. It was two days until Christmas and it was storming. He wanted snow.
Across the hall Dan laid in bed awake at 3AM. He was under his covers almost too afraid to move. He hated storms. He didn't like the noise of the water hitting the streets and roofs, or the sound of thunder rumbling out side. He didn't like the noise of the people's tires splashing in the puddles of water in the rain.
He tried to block out sound with music or T.V. but that just combined the noises and made his anxiety level raise even more.
There was only one sound he loved the most. That was the sound of Phil soft comforting voice.
He loved the way he wrapped his arms around him and some how his hands were always warm. He loved the way he would whisper things in his ears like sweat nothings. Things like, 'you're beautiful.' 'You will be ok' 'I'm here for you.' 'You're not alone in this world.'
That's all he wanted at the moment. He let out a soft cry and his under his duvet.
CRACK!
Thunder rumbled.
His soft cries were now loud sobs and his only words were the shouting of him saying 'Phil' hoping he would some how hear him.
Dan looked at his phone and the brightness blinded him. The time read 4:00am.
He wondered if Phil would still be awake at this time of morning. Then he remembered their secret thing.
He knocked on the wall three times in time. That was code for 'come here'
Phil- still awake- then remembered that Dan hated storms. He ran over to his room and bursted in the door and saw sobbing Dan.
"Awe Dan." He said and walked over to him.
He got under Dan's duvet and hugged him comfortingly. Dan cried into him as another roll of thunder went off.
"Shhh it's ok Dan. We're inside, we're safe." Phil said rubbing Dan's back soothingly.
Dan sniffed and finally was able to talk. "Phil, I have a question." He said.
"Go ahead." Phil said.
"Why does it have to storm? Like what is it? What is thunder and lightning? Why does it all happen?" He asked.
"Well Dan. I honestly don't know why it happens or what it is. But its just nature. Its just like why it snows or why it gets hot and cold. Just because." Phil said.
"Then why am I scared of them. Like I know its just nature?"
The storm was now dying down and Phil cuddled closer to Dan. "Well. It might have something to do with your past. A lot of times fears originate from past events." He said.
"Then how do I get over it?"
"Well. Its supposed to storm tomorrow too. I will help you and we'll see if you can get through it. And then well do the same whenever the next one is until you're ok with them." Phil said.
"Ok." Dan yawned and squeezed Phil.
"Now you need some sleep. Good night Dan." Phil said trying to get up.
"Wait." Dan said grabbing Phil's hand.
Phil felt warm inside when Dan held his hand. "Yes Dan?" He asked turning back to him."Can um. Can you stay in here with me. For the night?" Dan asked almost embarrassed to ask his friend to keep him safe from the horrific storm just outside his window.
"Of course." Phil said getting back into Dan's bed and Dan cuddled him like a teddy bear.
The next night it had stormed again. Christmas eve. Dan was laying in Phil's bed with Phil and Dan was doing a lot better than the last storm.
He had an urge to tell Phil something that he may regret but he was going to do it anyways.
"Hey Phil." Dan spoke.
"Yes Dan." Phil said.
"Um I have to tell you something." He said.
"What is it?"
"Well um. I'm gay." He said afraid. "And I think. Well I know I have a massive crush on you."
Phil turned to him and looked him in the eyes. "Dan. I have to tell you something." He said, "I'm gay and I have massive crush on you."
They looked into each others eyes and Dan scooted close to Phil. They were now centimeters away from each others faces.
Phil slowly moved close. There lips softly touched and they kissed passionately.
Dan laid his head on Phil's chest and Phil played with his hair
Dan broke the comfortable silence and spoke. "Phil."
"Yes love." Phil said.
"I don't think I'm afraid of storms any more." Dan smiled.
Phil leaned down and kissed Dan. "That's great."
