Chapter 22

Alfred woke up at 7PM and returned to the room. I took the liberty to cook our dinner. My dismay when I saw an empty fridge. Darn! I need to go to the grocery, Argh such a hassle! Told him I need to go out and buy supplies at Wal-Mart, it is 30-45 minute drive and good thing they are open until midnight.

I took the stroller and went straight to the steak counter. I am starving to death. Put some potatoes and leaks for my Vicyssoise soup for Mom. Hoping when I come back she is already awake. While trying to reach for the mushroom soup, I squealed when someone grabbed me and covered my mouth. He pushed my body and my back flattened at one of the grocery racks. My eyes widen and froze. I couldn’t believe who’s in front of me.

“Shhhh… I am not gonna hurt you. I’ll remove my hand but please Meg don’t scream.” Billy pleaded.

I nodded and flashbacks of the freaking Billy the Bully incident visited my head.

“What are you doing here? Where the hell is Anderson?” he asked in a soft whisper.

I frowned and my fear has changed into irritation.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“They are headed here Meg and after you. You have something that they’ve been searching for years. They know you have it!” he scowled.

“Who’s “they”? I’m lost Billy what the hell is going on?” I exclaimed.

“You don’t wanna know. These are dangerous people Meg. Your Dad put himself into a muddle and got you in too. Where the hell is Gavin? He should’ve not let you come in here!” he said.

“I don’t understand Billy. What is happening?” I am now trembling and beginning to sob.

He was about to give me a hug when…

“Is there something wrong Miss?” one of the sales clerks.

“No, everything’s alright.” I smiled.

She finally bailed…

“Call Anderson and ask him to get you out of here quickly, before they arrive. I cannot help you Meg if that happens.” He said seriously.

“I can’t my Mom is sick and she needs me.” I reasoned.

“Bullshit! For all we know she is part of it!” he glowered.

“How dare you say that!” I shouted.

“Sorry, I’ll take you home.” He said.

He did insist and I could not do anything to protest. I’m worried if he will turn into stalker Billy again if I did turn him down. He parked the car and helped me unload the groceries I bought. When he placed the bag on the table he pulled me again and told me to call Gavin “NOW” in a commanding scary tone. I let out a screeching sound because I was surprised. Alfred heard me and hurriedly ran to the kitchen.

“Let go of her! Meg, are you alright? Is he pestering you again?” he asked and saw him holding a baseball bat.

“Yes I am fine; I almost drop the bottle of milk that’s why I screamed. We just bumped into each other at the groceries and he helped me. We are just catching up.” I explained.

Billy is just staring and smirking at Alfred. I grab Billy’s hand and drag him outside.

“Listen, Billy I know you don’t mean any harm. But I don’t understand what you are trying to say. If you want to help me, please tell me everything.” I begged.
