Monday
I shut my locker and leaned back against the wall. Ryan was making his usual entrance as he strolled through the hall with his little posse following close behind. He stopped on an occasion to stop and talk with his football buddies and the occasional girls. I’m used to it by now. It doesn’t even faze me. Well, of course it does but what can I do?
He finally made his way to me and grabbed me by the waste and pulled me close. He leaned in and kissed me on the forehead then pulled away.
“Sup babe? Heard the news yet?” He laughed.
“Uhm, news?” I asked.
“Yeah,” he threw the football into the air, “apparently we did the naughty.”
“Did the naughty?”
“Yeah.. You know, f*****.”
I rolled my eyes, “I know what you mean. You told them nothing happened right?”
“No. Let them think what they want. Its funny babe.”
“No. Ryan, it isn’t funny!”
He threw the football into the air once again and caught it then threw it up again. I snatched the ball out of the air and held it. I crossed my arms and looked at him.
“Ryan! Listen to me! It isn’t funny! I am not a whore! I don’t want people thinking that I am.”
“Woah. Babe, chill. Of course you aren’t. I wouldn’t date you if you were a whore. You had ‘sex’ with me. That doesn’t make you a whore.” He grabbed the ball back out of my hands and proceeded to throw it again.
“That’s just it Ryan! I DIDN’T have sex with you!”
I look up and see everyone walking towards us laughing and waving.
“We’ll talk about this later.” I slammed my locker.
“Hey guys!” Michael called out.
Bri and Samantha were hot on his heals. Bri strutting her usual ‘look-at-me-I’m-better-than-you’ walk. Where as Samantha is barely missing people as she almost wanders through the hall trying to keep up with them.
“What’s up dude?” Ryan yelled as he tossed him the football, “Hey Bri, hey Samantha!”
“Hey Ryan!” The girls echoed back.
I felt my face go from an expression of anger to an expression of disgust. The three of them utterly disgust me. They walk up and start chatting about the football game on Friday. I hate how cocky the four of them sound.
“Yeah man.” Michael said, “We’re gonna completely crush them!”
“Hell yeah dude” Ryan agreed, “Theyre not gonna want to come back to our stadium again. I cant wait to blindside their quarterback. Im gonna make that dude warm the bench.”
The guys continued to talk about their football game on Friday as the girls squealed on and on about their round offs, toe touches, and herkys. What the heck is a herky anyways? All I can imagine are cheerleaders doing a camel toe. That’s what a herky reminds me of.
Anna finally comes walking up in her cheerleading letterman. Bri and Samantha give her an awful look but she ignores it.
“Oh, and since your talking about it, Bri, your Pike jump is looking a bit off dear. Its sloppy fix it.” Anna said as she walked up.
Bri crossed her arms and pursed her lips, “Since when do I have to listen to you?”
“Maybe, since I took your spot as cheer captain.”
“You got cheer captain?” I squealed
“Yes!” She jumped up as a grin came across her face.
“Congrats!”
Anna definitely isn’t your typical cheerleader. Honestly, its slightly stereotypical to classify some one solely on being a cheerleader. They’re not all so bad. Actually, most of the squad is great. The only two who ruin it is Bri and Samantha.
I look up and see the principle walking towards me. Our principle is probably the coolest guy alive. He’s not like most principles. This, again, is stereotypical to say. He really does care about us.
“Take that hat off Eric.” He said as he picked the hat up off the boys head and handed it to him.
Principle Roberts is awesome. That’s the only way I know to describe him.
“Hey Skylar.” He said, “How are you today? Listen we have a new student, would you show him around?”
“I’m great. Sure thing.” I smiled as I walked off to follow him.
“Babe! Where are you going? Come back!” Ryan shouted after me.
“I have to show a new student around. Ill see you at lunch!” I shouted back as I shuffled to keep up with Principle Roberts.
I heard Ryan’s annoyed sigh as I walked away. I shrugged it off. He’ll get over it. I haven’t had to show a new student around yet this year. Its always fun. I became president of the SHS club last year. Since then, I’ve been showing around all of the new students. It lets me meet new people and lets me get out of class. Not to mention, it looks great on a college resume!
I walked into the office and waited as Principle Roberts went to go get they new student. He had already handed me the students schedule on a post it note.

Wow. We have 5 classes together. I guess me and this kid will be seeing a lot of each other. Principle Roberts finally comes walking around the corner with the new kid. There he was again.
It was the second time I ever saw him. His perfect smile, perfect everything.. I open my eyes back up and look back down at his grave. I look at his name and I can hear his voice in my head.
“Hey, I’m the new guy. Chase. You know that already though. Nice to see you again. What luck I have.”
“Seems we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.” I say as I hand him his schedule.
