“Looking forward to it,” Chase replied, “you going to show me around or what?”
“Well come on then. I’m waiting on you.” I laughed.
He opened the door for me, “Ladies first beautiful.”
“I have a boyfriend you know.” I laughed.
“Oh I know. I saw this morning as I came in. Things change.”
“Creeper much?” I laughed.
“I wouldn’t call it ‘creeping’. More like, keeping my eyes on the prize.”
“Oh okay. Call it what you want, creeper.”
I took him down the hallway to his first period.
“This will be your first class. Mrs. Adams is really nice.”
“I’m a determined guy you know.”
I ignored his comment and continued on walking, “Your next class is right here. Your third period will be right beside it. Room 306.”
He shrugged it off, “So you like football players, huh?”
“I like Ryan.” I said.
How stupid could I have been? To continuously reject him.. The most perfect guy in the world. I remember it perfectly. I tried to put up a wall and act like I wasn’t interested but I know I was. The boy gave me butterflies. He made me feel so great. Ive never had a guy interested in me like that. It was something new. Something great.
“Why?” He laughed, “What does he have that I don’t?”
“Are you gonna keep this up all day?”
“No. More like until you dump the loser and pick up the winner.”
“And that winner is you, huh, Mr.Cheesey-Pick-Up-Lines.”
“Yes and excuse me, but my pick up lines work.”
He was right. They did work. They made me smile. Nothing made me smile like that anymore. They made me giggle on the inside. I felt like a little kid again with a f
ew crush.
“So, are you gonna keep me waiting? Or are you gonna do your job and show me around, huh?”
I laughed and rolled my eyes, “I thought I was doing my job. Its kind of hard to when some ones interfering with it.”
“Fine,” he crossed is arms, “Ill shut up. My lips are sipped.”
He pretended to zip up is lips and followed me behind me.
“Through the door over there will be your 4th period class. Mr. Greene is an awesome teacher. You’ll actually enjoy his gym class. Our gym is awesome.”
I led him through the gym doors and let him look around. Ryan was standing across the gym talking and some one through him a ball and pointed our way. I saw his face go from calm to mad in a split second. He started to walk towards us.
“Here comes the football player.” Chase said dryly.
“Just be calm and nice. He’s mad.” I said as I walked up to him.
“Hey Ryan,” I said as I walked up to him, “This is Chase. He just moved here from—“
“Greens County.” Chase butted in.
“Yeah. Nice to, uh, meet you kid.” Ryan said as he grabbed me by the arm, “You two seem to be having a bit to much fun Skylar. What’s this punk trying to do, replace me?”
“Ryan no. I’m just showing him ar—“
“Ha! I wish she’d dump you. She deserves much better.” Chase interrupted me and stepped forward.
“Say what? I think you need to watch yourself kid. Ill see you later Skylar. We need to talk.” Ryan said as he turned around and walked off.
I grabbed Chase by the arm and dragged him outside the door.
“What were you thinking?” I screamed.
“I was thinking that if you weren’t going to say it, I should! You deserve better than that dick!”
“You don’t even know me! You just met me! You don’t know Ryan either!”
“I bet I know you better than he does. He’s just using you. I’ve been here for a day at the school and I can already see that.”
“Do you want me to finish showing you around?” I said.”
“Well I suppose I need to see where my classes are, huh?”
I took him on down the hallway and up the stairs.
“Your next two classes are on this hall. Your 5th is right here and your 6th is room 509, the door to the right on the end of the hall.”
“And my 7th?” He asked.
“It is outside at the trailers. Since part of the school is under construction were using trailers for history. We have 6th period together so just follow me there after class.”
“Alright,” he said, “Wow, I get to follow you some where?”
I rolled my eyes. The clock read 11:03 am.
“We should be getting ready to leave 3rd period in a few minutes so you should head on to the gym for 4th period. Ill be seeing you in 5th period.”
He smiled, “Alright.”
“Ill see you later.” I turned around to walk off.
“Hey wait,” He grabbed my arm and I turned back around, “Look, I’m sorry if I’m a jerk. Ill stop. I really do like you though. I bet you have all of the guys around here liking you.”
I laughed, “You’d bet wrong then.”
“Their loss.” He laughed.
“I turned around and started to walk before turning back around and waving, “Ill see you in a bit Chase.”
He smiled and turned around. I watched as walked to the stair case and attempted to jump down the first flight of stairs. He failed miserably and landed on his butt. He quickly scrambled to his feet and looked around. After realizing no one saw it, he started to walk again. Way to play that one off.
