A little later, Sofia and Hugo had lunch. Just then, Amber, Hildegard, and Clio came.
"Hugo, we were just looking for you," said Amber.
"I was having lunch with Sofia," said Hugo.
"Do you want to see the berry pies?" asked Hildegard.
"That would be nice," said Sofia.
"Let's go," said Hugo. As he and Sofia took off, Amber, Clio, and Hildegard weren't happy that Hugo let Sofia tag along.
While the quintet was looking at the berry pies, Amber got an idea. "Hugo, I know how much you like raspberries," she said. "Would you like a raspberry pie?" She held up a raspberry pie for Hugo—but Hugo just wound up feeling sick to his tummy, and his face turned green.
"Are you okay?" Sofia asked.
Hugo didn't answer—he just ran off.
"What was that about?" Hildegard asked.
"I don't know," said Amber. "Hugo never turns green when he sees a raspberry pie. Raspberry is his favorite."
"Let's go and talk to him," said Sofia.
The four princesses went to go and see Hugo, who was recovering from what had happened when his older brother, Axel, showed up. "Are you okay, baby bro?" he asked. Hugo explained what happened.
"But I'm feeling better right now," said Hugo.
"Good, because the flying derby race would've been ruined if you had gotten sick from eating raspberries," said Axel, hugging his little brother.
Just then, the princesses showed up. "Hugo, are you okay?" Sofia asked.
"Yes, I'm fine," said Hugo.
"What happened back there?" Hildegard asked. "Why did you get sick from that raspberry pie?"
"Yeah, I thought raspberries were your favorite," added Clio.
"Not anymore," said Hugo, putting his hands to his tummy. "Now they make me sick to my tummy." Amber, Hildegard, and Clio were confused.
"If raspberries used to be your favorite, then how did they start making you sick in the first place?" Sofia asked.
Hugo's face turned red, and he said, "Well, it happened at a county fair in Albuquerque. I decided to compete in the raspberry pie-eating contest for the first time, and I won first place."
"What happened?" Sofia asked.
"Well, I didn't realize that the raspberry pie was really big," said Hugo sheepishly.
"Yes, somebody's eyes were bigger than his tummy that day," Axel chuckled, tickling his little brother's tummy.
"After I won the contest, I wound up feeling really sick," said Hugo. "Now every time I see, taste, or even smell raspberries, I get sick to my tummy."
"Oh, that's too bad," said Sofia. "Do you like blackberries?"
"As a matter of fact, I do," Hugo said.
"Well, that's good," Sofia said.
"So I hear you're both performing tonight," Axel said.
"Yeah, I was just teaching Sofia how to play guitar, and she's really good for somebody who just learned," Hugo said.
This conversation was really making Amber, Hildegard, and Clio jealous of Sofia—and they wished she wasn't friends with Hugo in the first place. The three princesses walked away when Sofia and the princes weren't looking.
"Why did we invite Hugo to join us?" Amber asked.
"Sofia and Hugo wouldn't be such good friends if Sir Gilliam hadn't paired them to ride in the championships for the Flying Crown," Hildegard remarked.
