Plot to Ruin the Fun

Later, Sofia and Hugo had won the flying derby race. Hugo had a bronze medallion sitting around his neck while Sofia had a bronze medal pinned to her jacket.

"That was fun," said Sofia.

"Well, now that the flying derby race is taken care of, what do you want to do until the performance tonight?" Hugo asked.

"Well, we were supposed to spend time with Amber, Hildegard, and Clio, but that didn't go as planned," said Sofia. "It would mean a lot of if we made it up to them."

"Sounds like a great idea," said Hugo.

Sofia and Hugo looked everywhere for Amber, Hildegard, and Clio, but they were nowhere to be found.

"I wonder where those girls can be," said Sofia. She and Hugo saw James and Zandar coming their way.

"James, have you seen Amber?" Sofia asked.

"I saw her, Hildegard, and Clio doing something in the music room," said James.

"Thanks," said Hugo. He and Sofia took off to find the other three princesses.

In the music room, Amber, Hildegard, and Clio were putting Sofia's and Hugo's acoustic guitars away.

"When Sofia and Hugo play their guitars in their show, the guitar strings will break," snickered Amber.

"This will be great," said Hildegard.

Before the princesses knew it, Sofia and Hugo came in.

"Amber?" Sofia asked.

The princesses jumped at the sound of Sofia's voice.

"What are you girls doing in here?" Hugo asked.

Amber, Hildegard, and Clio didn't want Sofia and Hugo to know what they were up to.

"We were just looking at the instruments," said Clio. "What are you up to?"

"Well, we feel pretty bad about not joining you guys before the flying derby race," said Hugo. "We want to make it up to you."

"How?" Hildegard asked.

"We still have time before our performance tonight, so we want to spend the rest of the day with you," said Sofia. "Are you still in the mood for square dancing?"

The three princesses felt a little nervous. "Okay," said Clio.

"Great, let's go," said Sofia.

Hugo and the princesses went out to do some square dancing, and they were all having a great time. Sofia and Hugo were square-dancing to one of their favorite songs.

It was nice that the five young royals were having a great time together—but Amber, Hildegard, and Clio were still jealous of Sofia, and they wished they could have Hugo to themselves. They couldn't wait for the performance, so it could be ruined.
