Amber, (My mom but because of our unusual relationship we travel on a first name basis.) and I walked down the London streets happily with plenty of designer bags full of expensive clothes in them. I enjoyed to read books and write also but clothes where important to me too.

"Honey I need to go to the post office, the post is late again." Amber said sighing.

"Budget cuts." I mumbled, recalling the morning news. Amber was used to this by now so just ignored my comment. It's not like she was being mean, she just didn't care.

After about half an hour of my mother arguing pointlessly with the manager we finally stepped out the door and started to walk home.

Amber shuffled through the stack of letters and cheep ads in hope to find something important. I just read each street sign as we went, in hope to know my way round the whole of London. It didn't work.

"You never told me you have a penpal." Amber commented picking up a letter that was almost rusty lemon yellow compared to the other crystal white ones.

"I don't." I simply stated, half ignoring her.

"Oh well. This is for you anyway." She passed my a letter addressed to me and from somewhere called Hogwarts. That's nice. I thought. Another school application. It was late though. Oh well just blame it on the post office. I planned to wait till I got home to open the letter but it must have slipped my mind. Instead it lay on my desk, covered by my novel of Wuthering Heights, not to be touched till two very special weeks later...
