Chapter Eight
I was reluctant to get out of the warm car to go down the sidewalk and up the steps to meet my doom. Surely you could understand why I did not want to go inside this house. Sure, it looks cozy and nice on the outside, a typical house in a typical neighborhood, but this was Davis's house so I had no idea what kind of evils could be inside. For all I know this could just be his way to get me alone, tie me up, and inflict pain on me for losing the game.
"Are you coming in or not?" He asked waiting inside for me with his hand still on the doorknob and me being the idiot I am, still standing in the pouring rain.
"I can walk from here it will only be like ten minutes." I didn't even know that he lived this close to me until now.
"You are not walking in this storm." He said. Oh okay, so back there when you asked me if I was coming in like I had a choice must have been forgotten. I walked inside and looked around waiting for something to jump out at me. I took a look around and found myself relaxing. Surprisingly, Davis had a pretty normal house, it was actual pretty nice. It wasn't too simple or boring but it wasn't over the top with decor either. I looked around his living room taking note of everything and anything. I also felt bad because I was probably dripping water everywhere and I was all muddy from the game.
"Would you mind if I took a quick shower?" I asked."I have spare clothes in my bag." I said thankful that I always brought an extra outfit after a game. Surprisingly, Davis said yes and showed me to the bathroom and handed me a towel. I thanked him and then locked the door behind me. This was really weird. Who takes a shower at their coach's house? This is all his fault though. I could be in my house right now enjoying my own warm water, but no, the prick decided he couldn't drive in this weather. Wimp.
I turned on the water and waited for it to get really hot. After this day I would need the hottest shower I could get. I let the water wash away all of the dirt and grime on my skin and wished that it could wash away how dirty I felt underneath my skin too. I thought about the game for a while, and then about leaving my grandmother the way that I did. I sighed as I looked for shampoo to use. There was all of Davis's products, mostly axe bodywash and crap, and then there was some female products on the other rack. I pursed my lips and then remembered he had a girlfriend. Hm, interesting, it must be getting serious if she has her shampoos in here.
I felt weird using someone else's stuff but I didn't really have any other option and I wasn't going to use Davis's stuff because I didn't want to be walking around and smelling like him. As I got out the shower and dried myself off I noticed a pink toothbrush next to a green one. Oh I can't wait to tease Davis about this. Just as I was putting on my t-shirt and stuffing my dirty clothes back in my soccer bag the lights went out and it went pitch black in the bathroom. Great.
I looked for the door but considering this is my first time here I had no idea where I was going and found myself bumping into corners. As I was feeling along the wall there was a knock across the room so I went over there carefully, "Iris you okay in there?"
"Yeah I'll be out soon." I said and then towel dried my hair a bit before putting the towel in the hamper and then felt around the ground for my bag which took a couple minutes to find. When I came out I noticed a faint light coming in one of the rooms and then someone talking. I walked slowly down the hall, one because it was dark, and two I didn't want to disrupt Davis as he was probably talking on the phone or with someone who came over.
