Chapter 24

"Did I not tell you?! See I knew there was something in there and you didn't believe me, it's not that bad to believe in Izzy, you know?" I crossed my arms as we sat in the car and put a frown on my face, Mason only laughed it up though, which was kind of mean.

He leaned his head to connect with my shoulder and looked up at me. "Don't get so mad, I didn't even tell you how I found the place, it's not even a long story, but still, you didn't get your question answered."

"Fine, but I want another hot chocolate tomorrow," I pushed Mason off of me and leaned into the seat. "Are we going to go back to my place?"

"Not right now, I like sitting out here."

"But what if we get robbed?" Mason locked all the car doors right after I said that.

"If someone does try to break into your car, we can drive off, alright? It's not like I'm going to let someone hurt my little Izzy that easily," Mason patted my head and blew a small kiss to me.

I squinted my eyes at him. "Fine. Just tell me how you found this place, it's amazing."

"Well I got kicked out of my friend's house and –"

"Wait, how did you get kicked out of your friend's house? You're the nicest, non trouble causing person ever, how does that even happen?" Mason wasn't someone who would cause any trouble, I knew that because I had never seen him break anything or yell at anyone. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen him get into that many fights.

Mason put a finger to my lips, telling me to not interrupt. "His mom wasn't a fan of me, she tried to find every excuse to make me leave, that is mostly how I ended up leaving his house every time I went. Anyways, I was walking and I may have gotten lost, after my many times of being kicked out of his house, you'd think I knew my way around the place. I didn't and ended up getting lost.

"I ended up walking around for a while until I remembered that people do own phones, but it was so dark that I couldn't find anyone. I kept going in circles until I found this place; there was a nice old man here who talked with me for a while. He told me about a lot of things, especially things from his past and all in all was a pretty nice man. Luckily he had a phone and I called Aron. While waiting for him I sat and looked at the stars while the old man sat next to me, telling me how this place was a magical place with all its beauty. You would be happy if you ever met him, he's a really kind man."

"What did he talk about?"

Before he could answer, Mason's phone rang. I could faintly hear words coming out of the phone, but I could barely make out any sentences, but two words I had heard were 'Aron' and 'hospital'. I hoped and prayed in my mind that those two words weren't used in the same sentence, but when I heard the continuous sobs coming form the other side, I knew that Aron was most likely in the hospital.

When Mason hung up he told me that we were taking a trip to the hospital. I couldn't see any forming tears in his eyes, but his expression was stone hard, as if he was trying to keep a mind reader out of his head. Me on the other hand, wasn't doing too well, although Aron and I weren't that close, he is my friend and he is my best friend's boyfriend. I whipped my tears away and focused on Mason more than on me.

I had never seen Mason without any emotion on his face before. He was never stone cold like this.

"Mason? Are you okay?"

"No, I'm not Izzy, I'm not okay."

My hand reached over to his arm, which was incredibly tense, and Mason took one of his hands off the steering wheel and held mine. A tear slipped form his eye. "I'm not okay, not right now."

We arrived at the hospital, when we saw Maze. I ran over to her and tightly took her into my arms. Her face was red, her eyes were red, and her snot was everywhere.

Mason joined in on the hug, but after a second we broke apart. "How is he? What happened to him?"

"We had a fight right after our date ended an-and he just- we were crossing the street and he was hit by a car and I-I didn't cross the road yet, b-but he did and he-he's in an-and he, it's all my fault, I started the fight and I didn't tell him about the car coming, I didn't see it and it's all my fault Izzy," Maze broke down and couldn't continue. She cried and cried and couldn't utter a word. Mason on the other hand didn't break down after hearing what happened to his brother, he had the same stone cold expression he had while asking the receptionist where Aron was.

"Hey, it's not your fault, you didn't see that car, who could blame you for not seeing a car and warning Aron?" she gave out another sob. "He's still alive right? Stop blaming yourself for this, okay? He's still here, and all couples fight, Maze, it's not a one sided thing. Lets go see him."

"I don't want to see him in such a bad condition, Iz, I don't. I've been waiting for you out here and I don't want to see him right now."

"You have to, if he actually dies, you need to at least be with him right now, he doesn't want his beloved girlfriend to not want to see him now does he? Just come and see him. Come on, let's go see him."

"Okay fine."

"Have you called his parents?"

"Yeah, they told me they're on their way," I broke away from the hug with Maze and asked Mason where Aron's room was. We all headed to his room.
