Extra Scene

Pearl walked into the Burning Room, staring up at the bubbles grazing the ceiling. She circled the room before smiling. She summoned her spear and held it up to pop a bubble, before catching the spear and the object from the bubble. Pearl let the spear dissolve. She held the pink rose in her hands.

The petals layed across her hands, as if stretching across them. Pearl slowly spun the rose in her hand, looking at it from every angle. Pearl sighed, and put her arms at her side, letting the rose hang in between her fingertips.

"Oh Rose..." she whispered, smelling the sweet flower.

"Why did you have to leave me?

Why did you have to go?

You could have stopped, and thought about us,

but you didn't know."

Pearl walked across the room, examining the rose.

"You left me here, alone.

You know this isn't my home.

You stood up and left your throne,

looking for a new place to roam.

You invited me with,

and I had to come with you because-

Oh well, you didn't know why.

You were oblivious to me,

your little servant you wanted free.

There was a different person you wanted to be,

and I thought I held the key.

But I was wrong."

Pearl raced across the room, twirling with her ribbon and rose.

"Oh Rose,

Why did you have to leave me?

Why did you have to go?

You could have stopped, and thought about us,

but you didn't know."

Tears started to stream down Pearl's face.

"You were Pink Diamond, the brave,

it was not power that you craved-

but it was love,

and I wanted to be the one you thought of.

But, oh no.

We left Earth together, bringing the other gems along.

Their love was powerful, it was strong.

Why couldn't you see it? It was clear:

That I only wanted you here.

Oh Rose.

Why did you have to leave me?

Why did you have to go?

You could have stopped, and thought about us,

but you didn't know."

Pearl stopped and looked up at the other bubbles.

"I thought that I was yours alone,

we were meant to be, and it was known.

Then you went to Greg and broke me like glass,

I wanted to run away, and leave you fast!"

Pearl stared down at the rose.

"Why did you have to leave me?

Why did you have to go?

You could have stopped, and thought about us,

but you didn't know.

I never told you.

You never looked at me.

I was only a little Pearl,

and you were a Diamond.

I thought it could work.

But I was wrong."

"Pearl?" shouted a voice.

Pearl looked up at the doorway, wiping her eyes.

"Yes, Steven?" she called.

Steven appeared in the doorway, wearing his pajamas.

"Can you put me to bed?"

"Of course. I will be there in a second."

Steven shuffled away in his slippers.

Pearl sighed and looked down at the rose. She looked back up and walked towards the doorway. When she passed the center pit, she tossed the rose into the lava. She never looked back.
