Paige's POV

"Are you sure that this is a good idea?" I asked Leo.

Colten's house was an hour away from the hotel. We were a few blocks away.

"No, but do we have much of a choice?" Leo asked. We did have a choice. We could move away and start a new life. Leo seemed to know what I was thinking.

"No, we can't leave. Peter won't give up until he figures it out," Leo told me. He turned up the radio. I listening even though I had no idea who was singing or what the lyrics were.

"I think that's it," Leo pointed.

It was a small brick house. The yard was a little longer than the others. There was an empty flower bed in the front. A red pick up truck was in the drive way.

Leo checked the address again and parked. "We're here," he announced. I got out of the truck and waited for Leo to walk around. Leo had his backpack with the girl's school file and the newspaper report announcing her death.

We slowly walked up the cracked sidewalk. There was a screen door and behind it was a peeling white door. Leo pulled on the screen door, making it creak. He knocked on the door a few times.

I was looking around the porch and noticed a huge stack of newpapers next to us. I nudged Leo and pointed. He nodded and whispered, "He probably doesn't check it."

Leo pounded on the door a few times. He sighed after a few minutes.

"Let's go," he said. He was already on the sidewalk. I stopped and looked behind us.

The window curtain was pulled back a few inches. I saw a dark figure looking out.

"Leo look," I said. The curtain was let go immediately. Without waiting for Leo I walked up and started knocking on the window.

"Hello? I know someone's in here," I said loudly. When there was no response Leo knocked on the door. Finally someone opened it.

His eyes were stormy gray. It was the first thing that I noticed about him. The second was his skin. He was Sun kissed tan. It made since because he lives in California. His hair was pitch black. Everything about him seemed dark.

"Who are you? If you're here to kill me I won't fight," Colten said.

"I'm Leo and this is Paige. We- we aren't going to kill you. We just want to talk. About your family,"Leo said.

Colten's eyes looked confused and cautious.

"Come in," he replied stiffly. He held the door opened. Leo kept his eyes on him.

Colten took the lead when the door was shut. We walked through what I assumed was a living room. I noticed several bottles of liquor on the coffee table. I didn't think they could drink because of the healing. Maybe he just tries to.

Then we went into the kitchen. Colten gestures for us to sit at the table. He leaned against the sink.

Leo pulled a chair away from the table and didn't push it back in when he sat down.

I took a seat next to him and did the same thing. If anyone got violent we could leave easily. I made note of the back door a few feet away.

"You're a wolf," Leo announced. Colten just stared at him.

"That's why you asked if we were here to kill you."

Colten said nothing.

"You're an omega," Leo said.
