Chapter 3

Bella 's Pov

Today was a beautiful day in Hawaii. It's not like there is a day that isn't beautiful here. The weather here is a lot better than Forks. I'm glad I left. There were just too many memories of HIM. At first, I stayed in Forks for a month, but later decided it wasn't worth it. I should be living my life like I'm sure HE is.

Anyway, my life is better here. When I decided to leave Forks, I called Renee. I told her about how I wanted to leave and she completely understood. She told me her and Phil were going to be moving to Hawaii because Phil's season was over and they wanted a change. I thought it was perfect so I told Charlie and he was okay with it. He wanted me to have the best life I can possibly have. With his blessing, I got on a plane three days later and met Renee and Phil in Hawaii. We searched for houses and we found the perfect one. It was right on the beach in a nice neighborhood, there were enough bathrooms so each one of us could have their own, plus a few extra, and there were five bedrooms. It was amazing. We immediately bought it and moved in two days later.

After living there for three months, Renee decided she wanted another child in the house. Of course Phil and I protested against it but we decided we would do it if we adopted. Renee readily agreed and we started looking around. It took us four adoption centers in order to find Emily. I saw her sitting all alone playing with her doll so I sat next to her and we started playing together. We immediately knew she was the one. She really was adorable. She had brown eyes like me, long blond hair that she likes to put into two braids down her back, dimples, and freckles. She was the cutest little four-year-old I have ever seen. We adopted her and for the first few weeks afterwards she would only talk to me. She started opening up to Renee and Phil after the third week of living with us. I always put her hair in braids every night and read her bedtime stories. She wants to be a surfer like me one day.

A week after Emily got used to us I got into surfing. I saw all the surfers riding the waves from the back window and I decided to try it. The first time I was able to ride a wave I immediately was hooked on surfing. There was an adrenaline rush that came with surfing. After tons of practice I am now a national surfing champion.

There was this one day where I had a feeling that I should go to the beach so I started walking down there. That was the day I met my best friend. We're both surfers and we are like sisters. Her name is Taylor. She is like the exact opposite of me. She has dirty blond hair, bright blue eyes, and a smile I could notice from a mile away. We are both homeschooled by Taylor's mom, Mrs. Spark, so we can have more hours to surf and we see each other everyday.

I figured out I loved the ocean so I started training aquatic animals. The reason I started training aquatic animals was I saved a dolphin who was caught in a fishing net. We did save it and we brought it to a local aquarium. I got to name her and named her Roe. I started to train her and I was addicted to it so I started training their sharks and whales. I voltunteer there in my spare time since I'm busy dancing at a dance studio as well.

Emily loves dancing and asked me to take her one day so of course, I said yes. When I got there I was fascinated. I started dancing there and became so advanced that I started being a choreographer there. I teach a competition team with girls from ages six to thirteen.

I guess you could say I'm like my mom since I'm into so many things, but at least I stick to doing those things. Well, to sum it all up, life is good. I realized I could live without Edward, but it still hurt me to think about him.

I had just finished this weekend's homework and was meeting Taylor at the beach for our afternoon surfing. I had already gone to the aquarium and checked on all the animals, especially Roe. I was due at the dance studio at six o'clock. I have a busy Saturday ahead of me.

When I made it to the beach, I saw Taylor right away. "Hey Taylor!" I called as I ran to her. We hugged each other like we hadn't seen each other for years rather than hours. Whenever I hugged Taylor she smelled like lemons and it felt like home.

"You ready to hit some waves, Bells?" She said excitedly.

"Do you even have to ask?" I said ready to start surfing.

"Nope! All I know is I'm going to catch the best waves today." She said confidently.

"Bring it on!"

We ended up surfing for three hours and we both had an awesome time. We definitely had to practice in order to get to nationals. I bet you're all wondering how competing against each other doesn't get in the way of our friendship. Well, we promised each other that we wouldn't let competition separate us. We cheer each other on at surf meets, not bring each other down.

When I had said goodbye to Taylor with a hug and a promise to text her later I started on my way home. As I got into the city, nobody was there. It looked like it had been abandoned. That isn't normal. There is always at least one moving car in the street, one person walking on the sidewalk, or one store at least functioning. This is creeping me out. So I decided to call Taylor to see if she noticed anything either. I was so scared she wouldn't answer and something had happened to her too. Before I could even say anything I heard Taylor scream into the phone, "Bella, Help!" and that's when the phone went dead. Now I was freaking out.

So I ran. I ran as fast as I could to my house, hoping and praying my family was still there. That's when I saw it. A vampire. Taking a woman hostage. I just kept running and luckily the vampire was too occupied to see or hear me. The vampires must have taken everyone in this town! There was nobody here. Except for the occasional scream.

I finally made it to the house after running for what felt like forever. I called to my family and looked throughout the entire house. They weren't here. The vampires took them too. How many were there? There had to be tons considering they wiped out an entire city in less than three hours. Then I heard them nearby. "The blond chicks friend called her and we tracked the phone to this house. Once we get her, she will be the last one in Hawaii to capture."

I knew I had to run but they can outrun me easily. I then knew I had to use the emergency motorcycle. It is as fast as a vampire and it might be even faster. I invented it myself when I got bored one day. I had to hurry towards the garage because I knew they were getting closer.

" I smell her scent and it's recent. Maybe five minutes ago." I heard one of them say.

Time to run, I told myself as I went to the garage to get the motorcycle no one ever thought about touching. There were five vampires that came in once I had started riding away. I recognized the one that took the woman in the city. I can't believe one of these bastards took my best friend. They ran after me at what looked like full speed. I knew there was going to be no one to help me from the information they gave me so I just rode on.

After about an hour, they obviously were tired of the tricks so they ran even faster and caught up to me. I tried to lose them, but they kept coming back. At some point, they threw me off the bike and my head hit something hard. I started to black out when I realized I had been captured.
