Excitement and nervousness bubbled in Bill's stomach.
He was getting close to the coffee shop where he was supposed to meet the kid. He had been thinking about it and looked forward to it all day.
Bill walked there since he didn't have a car... And he didn't even really like cars in general. Sure, he was able to drive but walking was preferable to him. He hoped the kid didn't mind the small wait.
He finally was a couple more steps away from the coffee shop. He felt even more nervous and excited. Bill was about to head for the door, but he saw a familiar face in the window. He stopped dead in his tracks.
Pine Tree.
He thought it had to be a coincidence at first. That the kid he had meant online happened to choose the same coffee shop that Pine Tree was at that day... But that wasn't true. He knew it wasn't...
How did he know?
...Because Pine Tree was wearing exactly what the boy had described to him.
Bill felt his heart and stomach drop... He... He didn't know what to do... Still go inside and act like nothing happened? N-no... He couldn't... He was barely able to get his thoughts together, so how the hell was he supposed to talk to Pine Tree like he nothing had just happened?
He took the coward's way out and just turned around and ran all the way back home.
When he got back home, he broke a ton of things. He'd fix them later... Whatever.
He was angry at himself that he hadn't put the pieces together earlier... It was so fucking obvious that it had been Pine Tree all along and he had been stupid enough to fall for it? Bill kept screaming at himself in his head that he was such an idiot... And an idiot for wanting to cry.
It took him an hour to finally calm down and get himself together.
Once he finally did, he knew he had to make a huge decision...
Was he going to continuing talk to Pine Tree, someone who he had actually started liking, or block his number and go back to being an introvert again?
It was a hard choice for him... He loved this new side of the kid he was getting. He loved talking to him and hadn't felt like this about anyone before... But then again it was Pine Tree. He had defeated Bill twice now and they were obvious enemies...
He couldn't even believe that he let himself feel this way about Pine Tree in the first place... It was gross. You're not supposed to like your enemies. It felt weird and wrong, but he couldn't help it. Feelings and emotions were not controllable...
He suddenly worried what would happen if the kid found out who he really was? What was he supposed to do or say? That made the first choice seem like a terrible decision...
...But his second option seemed more painful... He already had become really attached to Pine Tree and, now because of his human emotions and feelings, craved social interaction. He wanted to be friends with the kid, probably more than that, too.
He decided to stick with his first option, no matter how difficult it would be. He could do this.
Bill pulled out his phone to see that he had four messages from Pine Tree. He sighed when he saw that the kid was upset.
He apologized and everything seemed to go back to normal...
- PFT NO SHUT UP
Bill smirked and laughed a bit. He loved it when the kid got flustered.
Anyways, I don't know if you'd be willing to give me another chance, would you? I promise I'll show up this time.
- Yeah, of course! Do you want to try to meet at the coffee shop again or somewhere else?
Whatever you want to do is fine with me.
- I guess the coffee shop again. Same time tomorrow?
Sure.
- Can I know what you kind of look like so I can spot you and chase you down if you try to leave again? And maybe your name so I can call after you, too?
Just look for the pale guy with blonde and black hair. My name's Castor. Since I've seen your face now, can I get a name?
Bill, of course, already knew his name, but if he didn't ask, Pine Tree would get suspicious.
- Everyone calls me Dipper.
That's an interesting name. I like it. Funny, we both have constellation names. You know, because Dipper, like the Big and Little Dipper? And Castor is the second brightest star of the Gemini constellation? I think that's a funny coincidence.
Not actually my name, but it's still funny, Bill snickered in his head.
