Little Talks (Gravity Falls Fanfiction)

"Kid, you're kidding."

"Sorry I was so nervous back there," Bill awkwardly laughed as the two sat on the roof together.

Pine Tree snickered a little bit. "It's fine, man. Don't worry about it."

The reason why Bill had acted so nervous was because he was worried that someone would've realize who he was... Especially Sixer. Bill knew he wasn't dumb and could probably spot Bill from a mile away. Fortunately, he was wrong and Sixer didn't find out who he really was... What a relief.

"Guess that was like the equivalent of meeting your parents-," Bill joked, but then stopped himself. He forgot about the kid's parents being dead. He stumbled over his words for a second before finally saying, "Oh, wait- shit... sorry. I didn't-"

"N-no, no, no. It's okay, man. It's fine," Dipper quickly exclaimed, fortunately not seeming offended.

They was an awkward moment of silence between the two. Bill nervously rubbed the back of his neck, looking away from the brunette.

Curiosity began to chew away at the blonde. He knew that his parent's had died in a car accident, but he wanted to more... And he had a gut feeling that it might have been his fault. "Hey, um... Can I ask what happened to them?"

"Well," the brunette slowly started. "...When I was twelve, I spent my summer here in Gravity Falls. It was my first time ever being here. Mabel and I turned thirteen at the end of summer and headed home to Piedmont, California, on a bus. When we got home, we found a note from our parents saying that they had gone out to run some errands and would be back soon... They ended up never coming back. They got in a horrible car wreck on the way back... And they didn't make it."

"Stan and Ford offered to take us in afterwards and we, of course, took them up on that. We've been living with them in Gravity Falls ever since," Dipper finished. "...Thinking about it is still upsetting, but it's been a while. I've managed to cope with it... Plus, I'm really happy in Gravity Falls, too, which makes it also easier."

So, it hadn't been his fault. Thank goodness! ...But, it still wasn't great that the kid's parents were dead. It was a relief to Bill to see that he wasn't as torn up about it as he thought... It had probably been different years ago. Bill didn't want to imagine that, though. 

Dipper tried to change the topic. "Uh, let's try to stray away from something as depressing as that... What do you think about Gravity Falls?"

Bill gave a light chuckle and laid back on the roof. "It's a weird little town, but, like I've said before, I love weird!"

"What kind of weird do you mean?" Dipper hesitantly asked. He seemed a little nervous asking the question.

The blonde raised an eyebrow at him, sitting back up again. "What kind of weird are you familiar with?"

"...Maybe this will sound crazy to you, maybe it won't but... Monsters? Like gnomes and zombies and-"

"Kid, you're kidding. Of course that doesn't sound crazy!" Bill laughed, playfully punching Pine Tree in the arm. "This is Gravity Falls. You practically live the weirdness everyday!"

"Oh, thank God! I was worried you were going to think I was losing my mind!" Dipper let out a sigh of relief and laughed with him. "So, you've had some experience with it?"

"Mhm! I explore the forest a lot and I run into a lot of little creatures there," Bill informed him. This was true. Bill went on walks in the woods to try to cure him of his boredom... But most of his run-ins with the monsters that lived in those woods didn't end well. They knew who he was, and they were not happy with him, to put it simply.

"We should go exploring together sometime!" Dipper suggested, his eyes lighting up at the idea. "Ford wants me to try to find new things all the time in the woods and it would be great to have company!"

No, no, no. Absolutely not. If we actually found something, he would find out who I was-

"That sounds great, kid!"

...Well, he couldn't just say no to him... Not with those bright eyes and cute face.
