Chapter 5

Chapter 5:

“Julie! Pssst! Julie! Are you awake?”

I groaned rolling over in my bed. Today was challenge day, and after having a few days off from that night challenge; I was dreading it.

I opened my eyes to see Cameron standing on the floor looking up at me with a smile “Sorry, did I wake you?”

I smiled back; Cameron was the one person who wouldn’t make me complain if they woke me up early. I even complained to Lightning, but that’s been going on for as long as I can remember.

Since we had some days off, Cameron and I had been hanging out more. He was sweet and adorable and funny. He was like a textbook of knowledge that I was fascinated with.

And he felt the same about me, fascinated with the fact I knew common “teenager things” that he didn’t. He was like a small little brother to me and I was happy we had gotten closer over the last few days.

“You did, but it’s fine. What’s up?” I asked. “You gotta come see this!” He said excitedly, still in his pajamas and sleeping bag, hopping out of the room. I laughed lightly and followed him over to his cabin. He went in where I saw Mike sleeping soundly in his bed.

“What are we doing in here?” I whispered. Cameron sat down on the bed and patted the spot next to him for me to sit. “Just watch”

Cameron got out a notebook and pencil and waited for something excitedly. I was about to ask Cameron what was going on when Mike started talking in his sleep “All right guys settle down”

Mike then got up and climbed up to the top bunk, eyes still closed and stuck his arms out to sides before speaking again in that Svetlana voice. “Stick the landing Svetlana, practice makes perfect ten. Hi-ya”

Mike then jumped off the bunk, flipped in the air and landed hard on the ground. I covered my mouth and cringed, Cameron made a face as well. “Does he do this all the time?” I whispered.

“Wait, he’s not done!” Cameron said writing notes and watching Mike closely.

Mike stayed on the ground, still fast asleep. “You’re going down twinkle-toes” this time in that Vito voice. He snored a few times, then spoke up again, in that old man Chester voice.

“I’ve had it with you punks!” Mike balled his hand into a fist and scrunched his face when he spoke as Chester, he dropped his fist, then snored again.

“Fascinating!” Cameron said quietly, and excitedly.

“Is he…done?” I asked looking at Mike on the ground, snoring away.

“Looks like it, isn’t that cool?” Cameron said.

“What…is it, exactly?” I asked. “It looks as if it’s multiple personality disorder. I’ve seen it in challenges, and it looks like he has no control over them” Cameron explained.

I thought “Well it definitely explains a lot. You think he knows he has it? I’ve heard of that disorder thing where people don’t even realize it”

“Nah I think he knows. He did tell them to keep it down before. Remember? It’s just so interesting” Cameron said finishing off his notes and putting the notebook away.

“I just wanted to let my new partner know about my findings” Cameron smiled at me making me laugh and give him a one sided hug. “Cam, you have full permission to wake me up whenever you collect new findings”

“Thanks! I’m gonna go get ready now though, I wanna have time before breakfast and the challenge today” He said getting up and getting out of his sleeping bag.
