Prologue

My name is Lillian Claie Cowell. Caught my last name there? Cowell. People know me as the 'Niece of the most judgmental person in the world.' I am the daughter of Tony Cowell. Many people don't know him because he isn't as popular as Uncle Simon. No, not at all. They're nothing alike. My dad however did write an autobiography about Uncle Simon's fame. He also is a British radio broadcaster. I miss dad. I don't live with him at all, he didn't want me. He actually disowned me. I've lived with Simon my whole life. I'm only in high school, but Simon was always there when it came to meeting my needs.

He even bought me my first car. The thing is, Simon is barely home anymore, especially when he went on the X Factor in the UK. We live here in London, but we have to keep the downlow. Simon is always complaining about all the hate he gets on the show, that the camera never shows. He even told me that someone had mooned him once. I had to admit, his face was pretty funny when he told me the story.

Simon isn't the only one who works in the house though. I offered to help pay bills for my car or groceries, but he always denies. He helped me get a job at a studio, where I myself am a radio broadcaster! Just like my dad...except my identity is unkwown because I don't want people at school to know who I am. Simon knows I am hurt by my dads actions, but he never brings him up. I usually take my pain out in songs that I write. That's right, I write songs. Famous songs too. Simon lets me work with some of his clients so I can write how they're feeling. Whether its love, pain, anything, they sing the song. It makes me feel good that I can do something good.

Recognise the lyrics? Putting my defenses up. Cus I don't wanna fall in love. If I ever did that, I think I'd have a heart attack. Demi and I were pretty good friends, we were always there for each other. I could always talk to her as if she were my sister. She undertood how I felt, and she knows I want to be kept on the down low, so she shares my radio identity with me. She's the only one that knows. I'm glad I can always go to her for help.

Anyway I'm also glad Simon was there for me too. He's very protective of me, as if I was his own daughter.
