"My place." He spoke.
We kept walking until we reached a whole other area. No children. No teens. No people. No one was anywhere around. It was still part of the "camp", however.
"Uhm, why is your "place" so..."
"Isolated?"
"Yeah..."
He opened his front door and motioned me to get in first. The warmth of the morning sun no longer hit me. It was dark and cold in here. There were no pictures unlike in Liam's home. It was so dull.
"I like being alone." He answered in a very low tone. It caused me to shiver.
I shrugged it off and awkwardly stood there, not knowing what to say or do. I watched him walk over to some bags he had and searched them furiously.
"What are you looking for?" I finally managed to speak.
He pulled out a gun and my first instinct was to put my hands up and back away.
"I'm not going to shoot you. I was just showin' you what I was looking for."
I sighed in relieve and let out a nervous laugh.
He shook his head but never smiled. He kept a stern look at all times. He was so dull much like his home.
"I have more in this bag I'm taking. I'm only letting you know just in case we run into trouble."
"Okay."
I watched as he packed food and supplies in another bag. He hung both bags on his back. His way of walking and moving was so confident. So... So poised? It was almost slightly attractive.
"Let's go."
We then starting walking towards the woods where I had previously come from.
"Now tell me. Where exactly are your parents located?"
I tried explaining to him several times with great depth, but it seemed to only confuse him even more; even though, it wasn't that hard to figure out. I guess I'll have to lead the way.
"I'll show you."
He raised his eyebrows at me.
"It may have been easy for you to get here yesterday, but don't think it'll be easy again. It's day time! We'll get caught by others."
"Fine! What do you suggest we do then?!" I yelled out.
"Can you at least try and be patient with me? I don't recall being where your parents are. Yes I've been near but not exactly there specifically." He squinted his eyes and rubbed his chin, thinking.
I took this moment to be able to take a glimpse of him. His eyes were almost a caramel color. Beautiful long, dark eyelashes framed his eyes, making them stand out more. His dark hair was slightly put up in a quiff. The sun rays made his skin glow, making his jawline very prominent. I tried convincing myself he wasn't hot, but my god. Never in my life have I come across a boy this beautiful.
"Quit staring and let's go." I cleared my throat and could feel my cheeks start to heat up.
"Do you have a clue now?" I smugly asked.
"Mhm."
"Great let's go." We took slow and steady steps. A minute or two in, the tension and awkwardness was being felt more intense between us. It was making me feel really uncomfortable. So I decided to break the silence.
"So, who's Ethel?"
He didn't say anything.
"Why are you s-" He cut me off by shoving my shoulders.
"Look at me." He ordered as I looked up, afraid of what he might say or do. His face was right above mine.
"Do not, I repeat do NOT ask me about her again, understood?" I gulped and kept a straight face.
"Fine." I managed to whimper, but he kept his face above mine.
I could feel his hot breathe on my face. His lips so near to mine, only a few inches apart. It made me wonder... Has he ever been kissed before?
I don't know what has got into me, but his aura was attracting me like a magnet.
He finally let loose of his grip on my shoulders.
"Let's go." He gritted.
After finally reaching the place where my father and mother were at, I silently prayed father was okay. I prayed he at least got somewhat better.
"They're in there." I pointed out. Zayden nodded and started taking the lead.
"Can your father walk?"
"I-I d-don't think so, when I last saw him he had barely taken the medicine..."
"I'll carry your dad while you and your mom walk, alright?" He for the first time ever spoke sweetly.
I nodded and we headed into the building.
"Mama, we're here to help, we're leaving this place now."
My mother looked at me wide eyed, confused.
"This is Zayden. He has somewhere for us to stay, I'll explain more later."She nodded and we packed everything, well what we had left.
I could see my mother staring at Zayden. She wasn't saying anything good nor bad about him but I could tell she was judging hardcore.
"We must stay close." Zayden warned as we started heading back out of the place. His strong arms were flexed holding tight onto my father's limp body. I clutched onto my mother's arm.
"Whatever happens don't split up." He warned once again. His constant warnings were only making me more nervous by the second.
Two minutes into our walk back and we were stopped by Zayden's sudden "shush." and telling us to freeze.
"What's wrong?" Mother asked frantically.
"Silence!" Zayden ordered harshly. I glared at him for speaking to my mother like that but he could have cared less. He simply rolled his eyes dramatically.
We stayed silent and walked over behind some bushes and plants, where Zayden motioned us over. He carefully lay my father down on the grass and searched his bag.
For a weapon, I assumed.
"I'll be back. Stay here, there's weapons here if you end up needing any." I pulled him back by his arm.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"I heard voices." I looked at him like he was ridiculous.
"There's others that are looking for me specifically, and being with you and your family, puts you all in danger. I'm going to take care of it. I'll be back." He whispered.
All I could do was nod.
