-Mystery P.O.V.-
I looked around at our 'arena'. All was quiet. Nothing was disturbing the seemingly perfect area. Hours ago, I lost the one thing I cared most about. It wasn't money, or even the title. I lost the one person I cared about most in this world.
~A few hours prior~
Things weren't going well, to say the least. Both groups were fighting hard to keep their titles. Nikki with her group of three girls versus Trey and his group of five guys.
I can't do this.
Both Trey and Nikki both thought this as the final rounds were coming up. Chandler and Amber were desperately trying to keep up with the merciless boys that kept coming at them. Amber was battling the leader as Chandler was trying to handle Trey and another boy so Nikki didn't have to. Nikki herself was battling the two boys that seemed to be the leader's right hand men.
The only way to be proclaimed the winner here, was for only one of your crew members to fall. Just when a winner was to be proclaimed, sirens were heard off in the distance.
-Nikki-
This is it. From what I could tell, a boy from their side was getting tired, it seemed he couldn't keep up with Chandler. I can't let that get me. I must focus. Turning back to the two guys I was dealing with, I smirked and ran towards them, trying everything I could pull off to get them to step back and lose their footing.
Just a little more!
I beamed a triumphant smile as I saw one of them falling. We won! Finally!
BEEP! BEEP!
The police. No. No! NO!
Shouts were heard all around us as people were trying to get away from the site.
This means---
"You will have to battle next time, guys. We can't afford to be caught by the cops. See ya!" Our DJ ran for the hills, literally.
I stood there, mouth agape, taking in the site. Trey and his boys were running the opposite direction I was being pulled in by Chandler and Amber. There were a few stray people running around, trying to either hide or find who they came here with. But that's not what caught my attention.
It was Him. Mr. Stephenson. Leo.
He came here? How did he know about this place?!
He narrowed his eyes on me and I couldn't help but stare back at him. Something sharp was rubbing against my arm but I didn't dare look down at it. My arm felt warm as the sharp object kept tugging on it, tearing at it.
I could faintly hear their voices shouting at me. "Nikki, come on! Let's go!" Amber. "Oh god, look at her arm!" Chandler.
Leo finally broke eye contact to stare down at my arm, glaring at it. Only then did I look down and realize that the barbed wire was cutting deep into my arm, blood already appearing on the surface, dripping down. I hissed whenever my friends tugged at me again, causing the wire to latch on to the skin coming off, and ripping at the flesh that was still hanging on desperately.
"Go on ahead, I'll be fine. I don't think you guys can help me with this." I gritted out.
"But Nik--"
"Just go!" I shouted at Chandler. Her eyes widened and she was running after Amber, whom already left when she saw me get stuck.
"Be careful!" Chandler called back.
I looked down at the bloody mess that was my arm and cussed. The barbed wire had, somehow, wrapped around my arm and cut off some of the skin, as well as the layer flesh beneath the skin. If it wasn't burning like hell, I probably would have laughed seeing as I'm one of the few that gets caught in a mess like this on barbed wire.
With a deep breath, I reached my other hand down to try and get myself free when another hand stopped me. I didn't even have to look up as the lightning bolts went through me.
"Leo." I whispered.
A growl reverberated in his chest as he inspected my arm. The cops were getting closer, their shouts more pronounced. Leo continued to look at my arm, almost searching for something. He gingerly tugged off some of the loose parts off, resulting in my crying out.
His head snapped back up at me and worry laced with concern were in his eyes. He dropped one hand from my arm only to rip off a piece of his shirt, eyes never leaving mine.
"Bite down on this." he commanded, placing the cloth in my mouth. My eyes widened as he went back to work on my arm, pulling the wire out frantically as my muffled cries grew louder. I was shaking everywhere, not knowing what to do in this type of situation. The bolts kept pulsing through me, as if trying to heal me of my pain while Leo and his merciless hands kept tugging at my arm, trying to free me of the barbed wire's grasp.
After a few minutes, I was free and we were now running through the forest, trying to get away from the cops. Leo had wrapped the cloth that was in my mouth around my arm to stop the blood flow and he was carrying me as I kept shaking.
You could say it was from the blood loss, or even that I was being held by my teacher. Hell, you could even say it was the anger from nearly winning tonight. But for some strange reason, I lost consciousness and went limp in Leo's arms, not knowing where he was taking me or why he was even here.
-Leo-
She had passed out. At least I didn't have to answer the questions I knew where circling her mind. Tonight, I saw a completely different side to my mate. She was fierce, courageous, and downright sexy with everything she did. The audience watching her seemed to appreciate her, a little too much might I add. She seemed to be the best. Pride struck me whenever I heard the adolescents talking about her.
"Look at Adams. She's pure perfection."
"Woah! Did you see that combination she just pulled off?!"
"Baby got it going on!"
Okay, so the last one resulted in a growl from me and I didn't hear much from that ass-hole the rest of the perfomance. When I saw that she had nearly caused one of the boys to fall, I smirked triumphantly. When I heard the sirens, I was a bit surprised that the cops had only now found out about this event, seeing as flyers were everywhere in this small town. Looking at Nikki, I almost stumbled back and she looked after the retreating boys with defeat.
Everyone here knows the three girls would have won, had the police not shown up. So I don't really get why the man playing the music said to have a rematch. Something wasn't right here, but my thoughts were cut off as I smelled her.
I could feel her gaze on me. I could smell her blood. As I looked to her, I couldnt help but be mesmerized by her beauty. The confusion on her face made her look all the more delectable as I took in the rest of her. The cold smell of iron hung in the air, making its way towards me. I'd be lying if I said the smell didn't tantalize me, because that's exactly what I felt.
I looked around her, trying to find the source of the smell when my eyes landed on her arm.
'Mate hurt.' my wolf growled. I glared distastefully at her arm, knowing she was hurting and her friends kept tugging at her, making it ever worse. 'Protect mate.'
I was already walking towards her, my wolf clearly on the surface. Her friends ran and left Nikki as she was about to get herself free. I stopped her by grabbing hold of her other arm, knowing she would probably just make the situation worse.
My wolf both purred and growled at the contact and I could feel myself becoming aroused by this little beauty. But, now's not the time.
After a gruesome time trying to get her free, I finally cut her loose and was currently running through the forest with her in my arms, unconscious.
I would have probably taken her to my apartment, or even her friends house had I not heard the feral growl ripping through the forest.
Shit.
