***Lilas pov***
My alarm went off at 6 in the morning as usual. My first class was at 10 and I always meet Steph at the coffee shop right off of campus. My stomach churned as I stepped out of bed and remembered just what today was. Today was Aaron's first day at Hopkins. What the hell am I going to do? What if we have classes together? What if he tried to talk to me? Or worse... What if he didn't remember me at all? My mind was racing so fast that by the time I snapped out of it, I realized 20 minutes had already passed. Shit I need to get ready I have to be out the door by 6:30.
"Hey stranger!" Steph yelled at me as I walk through the door. The familiar ding of the bell went off as the door closed behind me. I walked over to the booth where Steph has her computer open doing homework she didn't finish as usual. I don't understand how she can just wait to finish it the morning of, doesn't that stress her out?
I immediately apologized for being late "I'm so sorry I am late I woke up on time..."
"And daydreamed for about 20 minutes?" She cut me off mid-sentence.
"How did you know?"
"Wild guess" Steph said before averting her gaze back to what looked like was an english paper.
I dropped my stuff in my seat and walked to the back of the line to get my usual yogurt and an iced coffee. All of a sudden my ears were ringing and there were so many bright lights. What the fuck is going on... I looked behind me to see two guys walk in who were wearing Aaron Mathews shirts. One had blond hair and a guitar pick hanging from his neck that must be Rick. The other had bright red hair and was carrying around a set of drum sticks, so that is Scott. I feel so stupid that I have stalked him to the point where I know who is in his band. I knew that Aaron couldn't be far behind. I dropped my yogurt on the ground and it splattered everywhere. As soon as I snapped out of whatever daze I was in I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in.
"Wait where are you going?!" I heard Steph yell after me.
I closed the door and locked it as tears starting to brim my eyes. How am I not over him, it's been over a year.
"Sweetie, are you ok?" I hear Steph say in a concerned voice.
When I don't respond I hear the door handle wiggle. Why do I have to have a friend who is good at picking locks? As soon as the door opened I faced the opposite wall and wiped my eyes.
"You made quite a scene out there" Steph said with a laugh.
"Was it that bad?" I asked when I realized how ridiculous I looked.
"I knew you were a fan of Aaron Mathews, but I never guessed you of all people would have reacted like that just at the sight of his band. It was almost like an ex walked into the room who you didn't want to see." Steph said with a laugh.
Little did she know. Steph handed me a napkin and then told me she was going to give me some time and that she would meet me in the parking lot. How was I supposed to get out without running into Aaron and his mates.
After a couple of minutes I wiped my eyes and prepared myself to walk out into the room where I just made a complete fool of myself in front of the love of my life's best friends.
I walked out to see the table where Steph sat empty. She must have grabbed my stuff, how nice. I got a glare as I walked past the woman cleaning up my spilled yogurt. I gave her an "I'm sorry" face as I walked by. As I turned the corner I saw them. They were sitting at a table by the window right in front of my car... Great, just my luck. I noticed Aaron was sitting facing the wall. Thank god he couldn't see me. Just when I thought I was getting out of this coffee shop without any issues, Rick pointed in my direction and three pairs of eyes looked at me. I made eye contact with Aaron, but he just looked at me with absolutely no emotion. I felt the tears brimming my eyes as I averted my gaze to the door and practically ran out of the coffee shop. Who am I kidding. Of course he didn't remember me. Aaron is a celebrity, he probably has way hotter girls to choose from. Not some loser that he used to love in high school. Steph got out of the car and opened her arms as I ran into them. I didn't care that Aaron and his band was watching it didn't matter anymore.
After I had a good cry. I looked into the window and noticed the three guys still staring at me. gave me a small sympathetic smile. He just felt bad for me I'm sure. I just stared at him as he shrugged and went back to talking to his friends.
"Sweetie, what is going on I'm so confused?" Steph asked with a sympathetic look on her face.
"It's a long story."
"We've got time, class doesn't even start for another hour."
"Okay, but we have to go somewhere else. I just can't bare to tell you in front of him." I responded while sneaking a glance at the boys.
"In front of who?" Steph asked as she cocked her eyebrows in a confused manner.
"In front of Aaron Mathews, the love of my life or at least I thought he was."
