Twenty-Seven

I was awaken by Jason's cries. I pick him up and bring him to the bathroom. I coo to him softly, trying to calm him. I change his diaper and feed him. He hiccups, looking at me with wide eyes.

"Good morning, little guy," I say, smiling down at him.

I dress him in a onesie that had Domo on it as a cactus and it read, "Free hugs." I look at the clock in Justin's room and it said it was 7:42. I bring Jason downstairs and set him down in the middle of the living room. I give him some of his toys.

"Mommy's gonna go make some breakfast," I tell him, kissing his head.

I walk into the kitchen and look around. I get some eggs out and turn on the stove. I could hear the toys rattling from the living room. Justin was still asleep upstairs. I didn't want to wake him. I put the eggs and some bacon into the pan, the sizzling making my stomach growl.

I put them on a plate and grab a fork. I walk into the living room and sit down on the couch. Jason was lying there, waving some toy keys around. I smile and eat my breakfast. He chews on them and I laugh. I set my empty plate off to the side and slip down onto the floor. I help Jason sit up and he looks around with surprise.

"What are you doing?" I ask, smiling. "What are you doing?"

He smiles then makes a classic baby sound. I imitate him, making him laugh. I tickle his stomach and he squeals. I kiss his stomach, blowing raspberries. He squeals again, a big smile on his face.

"What are you doing to that child?"

I look up to see Jaxon standing on the stairs.

"I'm playing with him. What else?"

"Eating his stomach?"

"I'm blowing raspberries."

"Who is he anyway?"

"My son."

Jaxon looks at me like I am crazy.

"What are you talking about he's your son?" he asks.

I nod. "Oh, yeah. You weren't here. Jason is our son."

"You were pregnant?" he asks, completely shocked.

"Surprise," I say, giving a little smile. "You're an uncle."

He comes over and sits down next to us.

"Are you serious?" he asks, taking Jason's hand.

Jason gripped Jaxon's finger as he chewed on the keys. He looks around at us and at the room.

"Yup."

"He definitely looks like you," he says.

"I think he looks like Justin," I say, caressing Jason's cheek.

Jaxon smiles. I heard someone on the steps so I looked up. Justin walks down the stairs with a hand in his hair. He walks into the living room and sits next to me. He groans and drops his head on my shoulder.

"Good morning to you, too, love," I say, kissing the top of head.

He groans and looks up at me.

"Ugh." He closes his eyes. "What time is it?"

"About eight-fifteen," I say, stroking his head.

Jason reaches out with his hands, gripping at the air. I pick him up and bring him to Justin's face. Jason giggles and blows a raspberry. Justin's face scrunches up, taking it. I laugh and kiss Jason.
