Twenty-Eight
I hold Jason above me, laughing along with him. Justin was off at the venue again, rehearsing for tonight.
"You are my sunshine," I sing. "My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You never know how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."
Jason giggles and smiles brightly at me. I smell something and I chuckle.
"Jason," I laugh.
I sit up and grab the diaper bag. I take out everything I needed and laid Jason down. He looks everywhere with his big, wide eyes as I change his diaper. When I was done, I pick him up and trash the dirty diaper. I feed him, wiping up his chin with the spoon. Time passes when I realize it was his bed time. I rock him in my arms. His eyelids droop and he yawns.
He falls to sleep soundly then set him in his crib. I cover him with his blanket and bend down to kiss his forehead. I feel someone grab me from behind and pull me to them. I look behind to see Justin.
"Justin," I say.
"Come to bed with me, baby," he slurs. "Let's have some fun."
I pull at his arms. "Not tonight, Jay."
He turns me around and leans into me.
"Come on, Rose," he says, swaying. "You know you want to."
I push him away. "Justin, please. Not tonight."
"Come on, Rosalie," he says. His breath hits my face. It smelled of whiskey and vodka.
"You're drunk," I say.
"It was a couple drinks," he says, shaking his head. "I am sober."
"You are drunk," I say sternly. "Let me go."
"No."
The look on his face changes completely in demeanor. His eyes were hard. He grips my arms tightly to the point of pain.
"You're hurting me," I say.
"Why won't you just fuck me already?" he snaps.
"I'm tired and you're drunk," I reply, pulling my arms from his grasp to no avail.
"Or are you just a little bitch?"
That hurt me. It tore through my heart like a carving knife through a deer's flesh. I could feel my eyes burn.
"Is that how you think of me? Huh, Justin?" I ask. "As your little bitch who comes whenever you need to get a kick?"
"Why else?" he asks like there is nothing wrong with it.
"This is a nice turn of events now, isn't it?" I ask, tears falling down. "I'll get out of your damn way then. I'm sure you'll replace me quick enough."
I yank my arms from his grasp, causing him to stumble and fall onto the floor. He passes out right there. I cry as I pick up my baby and run out the door. I run down the street, crying my heart out. His words cut me deep to the bone. I felt like he just ripped my heart from my chest. I reach a motel with vacancy. I push the door open and walk up to the desk.
There was a kid standing there, his eyes glued to the TV that sat no more than threw feet from him. He has dark brown hair that spiked up. He had to be at least twelve. I walk up to him and he looks at me.
"Is that your baby?" he asks.
"Can I get a room?" I ask, sniffling.
There was the chime of the door opening and I look. A woman who looked about 28 walked in with grocery bags. She looks up at me and who I assumed was her son.
