Amy stared in shock as Sin and Locke’s appearances transformed. Emerald green stones appeared on their foreheads, and they grew more beautiful in an eerie way.Amy did the only thing she could think to do. She screamed and turned around to run, but Sin appeared behind her. He held her shoulders.”What are you!?” Amy screamed.

“We are fey.” Locke said calmly.

“What? Like faeries?!”

“That is what we are.” Sin agreed.

“This can’t be real! Amy cried.

“Amy. This orchard is in our world. We are in Faery. Mortals cannot see that path to it. How you did is a mystery to me. We are protected by glamour here from your human eyes. I was nearby in the orchard and sensed you, and I came to you out of curiosity.” Sin let go of her. “It is dangerous for mortals here.”

“Sin!” A voice called.

Amy turned around to face the voice. Standing there in a stunning dress, with chestnut brown hair, and another green stone, was a faerie woman.

“Hello, mother.” Locke and Sin greeted her. Their mother’s golden eyes were slits of anger. She pointed at Amy.

“You! Name yourself!” She commanded.

“Uh, Amy.”

“Amy, you shouldn’t be here. How dare you trespass!”

“I didn’t mean to trespass anywhere! I just came---“

“You will speak to me with respect or not at all!”

Sin said,” Amy, this is our mother, Phaedra. She has dominion over us fey in this kingdom. The Seelie.”

“So, she’s like, your queen? And you’re princes!”

Sin smiled. Locke looked stressed. Queen Phaedra said, “Now that we are acquainted, you have trespassed and must be punished.”

“Mother, she doesn’t appear to be a threat…” Locke said.

“Do not question your queen.” She moved to ward Amy.”You will come with me, and I and my king will discern what to do with you.”

Sin then grabbed Amy and pressed his pointer finger to her forehead. It tingled and Amy shuddered. She removed his finger. His mother looked annoyed.

“That probably won’t be necessary. She won’t be here long enough to need it.”Queen Phaedra turned and left. Locke laughed. “Brother, the things you do! I must return to my Clover. Oh, she’ll love to hear this!” He walked off laughing. Amy turned to Sin.

“I don’t understand. What did you do?” she asked.

“I place a gem on your forehead.” He pointed to his own gem.

“Can I see it?” Sin led her to a lake. Amy looked at her reflection in the water. On her forehead was a green gem like that of Sin’s. She felt it. It was smooth and warm.

“So, what does it mean?” She asked.

“Fey will see my gem on you and know are under the Court’s protection. You’ll be safe with it. Now, you must be tired. I will take you to my home.”
