Tiffany had arrived at Homecoming, ready to find her Prince.
But she got distracted by all the colorful lights and the pounding music, and found herself in the middle of the crowd, dancing with her friends.
Alexis came up to her and quickly said, "Black shirt, red tie, first slow song is at eight."
But Tiffany only said, "What? No, my dress is green!" And Alexis hurried away, leaving Tiffany confused, and she knew she should find someone to dance with before the slow song started so that she wouldn't have to stand on the side like the freshmen.
Nobody was allowed to help Tiffany now, she was on her own, so once she forgot about the Cinderella Game, she was a lost cause.
Tiffany found a cute guy to dance with, so she pulled him out onto the dance floor with a flick of her blonde hair, slipping her arms around his shoulders as the first slow song started.
His black shirt looked cool as the flashing lights danced over it, and she held on tighter to keep herself from falling, regretting wearing so high of heels, but only a little bit. Until her foot
twisted and she fell, and she would have hit the floor if it hadn't been for the strong arms of the boy she was dancing with.He pulled her up so she could stand and steadied her. "You okay?" he asked softly.
Tiffany stepped back a couple inches, brushing herself off. "Ugh, you got red string or something all over my dress!" She complained, picking off small tufts of red fluff.
"But I'm not wearing red," the guy protested, pulling at his black shirt.
Tiffany scoffed, tugging at his tie. "Um, red, duh, I think I know my colors." She brushed at her dress one last time before straightening and shooting the guy another smile. "Okay, whatever, let's dance."
His confused expression morphed into indifference as Tiffany put her arms back around him and they danced to the slow song. Tiffany felt a nagging feeling in her mind, like she had forgotten something, but she was used to it. She just brushed it off and decided to have fun.
Tiffany danced a lot that night, switching partners every few songs, until she ended up with the guy wearing the red tie again. "Oh!" she said, smiling. "I remember you!"
They danced for a long time, and then Tiffany looked at the clock, feeling like something was wrong. It was eleven forty five. She felt that there was something connected to twelve, she had to be somewhere...
"I think I have to go," she told the guy.
"You think you have to go?" He asked, confused by her again.
"Something's at twelve. I can't remember... Maybe my curfew. Oh! My mom's going to be so mad!" Tiffany yelped.
"Ooh, yeah, you'd better go," the guy agreed.
"Um, will you walk me out to the parking lot maybe? I don't like being alone outside at night," Tiffany pleaded, biting her lip. It was true, she didn't know who could be out there. She might not be school smart, but she knew how things worked in the real world.
The guy nodded, walking with her out of the school doors. Tiffany saw her friend waiting in her car close by, and pointed it out to the guy she had been dancing with. "Okay, there it is, thanks, and bye! I had fun!" she called. She hurried off to the car, hoping she would get home before her mom grounded her, not noticing as her keys fell out of her coat pocket, to be picked up by the boy in the red tie.
