Chapter 2

"American accent." She stated and then smirked "you must be the new girl"

"Yes I am" I said a bit quieter than when I had previously spoken. Everybody's eyes were on me as this girl continued to glare down at me for reasons I did not know.

"Hmm well the first thing you should know about being here is that I'm Lanie and you don't ever get in my way" she said making sure to clearly annunciate the words she was speaking to make sure it got through clear to me and it sure did. I nodded and gulped hopping nobody would hear it or see how nervous I actually was. I don't even know what I did to make her mad already. All I have done is walk in the room and sit down.

After my nod for a response she turned on her heel causing her hair to fan out behind her as she walked back to the desk she was previously siting on. She sat back down and looked at me briefly before laughing at a joke one of the many guys around her had just told.

'Who is this girl?' I wandered replaying what just happened over and over again in my head.

When it came to lunch I didn't have a clue of where to go. I wandered the halls following where most people seemed to be going and it led me to the cafeteria. I still stood looking around. There are so many people all doing different things and appear to be many lines to purchase lunch. I got lost in my thoughts just watching ever body comparing the school to all my previous ones, the similarities and differences.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by something touching my shoulder out of no where. I jumped and turned around faster than I knew possible scared by the placement of someone's hand on my shoulder.

"Sorry to scare you" he apologized and I recognized the voice, then the curls and eyes. It was the boy from this morning who had opened the door for me when I was having trouble. "I just wanted to know if you needed any help knowing where to go" he said in his deep, raspy, British voice "your the new girl right?" He questioned me with a breath taking smile.

"Y-yes I am" I stuttered. 'Nice going' I though realizing how stupid i sounded after stuttering.

"So do you need help?" He asked me again.

"Sure" I replied. He began to walk towards where many of the people were and motioned for me to follow behind him. He walked me up to one of the lines which seemed to be the shortest one.

"I always come to this line. It's the shortest one and also the only one with chocolate cake" he chuckled as he grabbed two slices of cake from the counter in front of us. He placed one on my tray and one on his. We got through the line to the lunch lady's to pay for our food. He finished paying before me and began to walk away.

"See you around" he said and took off before I could say another word. I don't even know his name, yet he has been the nicest to me so far.

So I finished paying and walked out of the line to look around the cafeteria. Most tables were full of people already talking and socializing. I decided to just sit at one of the empty tables excluded from most of the others and began to eat my lunch. After a few minutes a girl with long brunette hair came up in front of me. She was dressed in stripped jeans and a cute black blouse. She sat down next to me.

"Hey your new and from America right? I'm Eleanor" she said sweetly and smiled at me.

"Wow everybody seems to know that" I lightly chuckled " my name is Sky, it's nice to meet you" I replied back to her.

"Well Sky me and my friends wanted you to come sit with us. You shouldn't sit all alone, your going to make friends" she said sanding back up "come one" she said and turned away to walk back to her table. I stood up and grabbed my tray to follow her in the direction she went. I caught up to her right when we got to the table.

"Girls this is Sky" she said looking at them "Sky this is Danielle" she said pointing at a small girl with extremely curly hair. "And this is Perrie" she said pointing at another girl with blonde hair. We all exchanged hellos and nice to me you's.

"Thanks for letting me sit with y'all" I said shyly after a few minutes. Then realizing I let the time I spent living in Texas slip through when I said y'all and hoped they wouldn't notice.

"Of course" Perrie said happy.

"Yeah, your part of the group now" Danielle said receiving agreeing nods from the other girls and from me in approval.

First day and I've already got friends. This is the best start I have had yet. I thought and then smiled to my self.
