Paige

"Hey sweetheart" my mother answered the phone sweetly.

"Hey mom. How are you doing" I ask walking back to my job after a lunch break.

"I'm doing fine, how's your job going?" She ask

"Very well. I'll talk to you later mom I'm heading back in" right before I hung up I heard her say she love me.

I'm 20 years old and work as a RN at a local hospital in North Carolina. I'm originally from the south. I've moved here when I was around 17 to get use to the new life here.

I have one older brother he is 25. I started my career early so I wouldn't be in school that long. I've been focus well somewhat of my life.

"Paige Ima need for you to check on room 356" my co-worker told me. I nodded and headed up.

After a long day of work I headed to my house I bought when I graduated college. I stop by Taco Bell to get me something to eat.

I pull up in the drive way locking my doors and opening my house door. I went straight to my bed and plop down groaning.

Lucas

I was in North Carolina playing football for the Carolina Panthers. This was my dream job. I was just back from practice, because we had a game tomorrow night.

"Ight lu, I'll catch ya tomorrow" my homeboy Q said. I nodded.

I hopped in my Benz and went home, I had a lil girl her name was Abby. Me and her mom really don't talk unless it's about her.

Before the game tomorrow I would have to go to the hospital to get a quick check up. I pull up to my crib and got out locking my doors to my car.

Soon as I walk in I drop my bags and went straight to the kitchen, a nigga was hungry. I grab some chips and Powerade and went to my room to watch Netflix til I KO.

Next day

Paige

I woke up early go to go work. I did my hygiene and put on my uniform with my ID. I grab my things and left, hopping in the car speeding down the road.

I finally reach my job I rush in because I was a minute late and lord know I hate being late. I clock in and got settled.

"Paige room number 280 is waiting for you. Just a real quick check up" the desk lady said handing me their paper work. I look over it and couldn't help but to notice the name Lucas Robison.

"Hey,"

"Uh hi."

"I'm Lucas"

"Paige"

"We should talk more sometimes"
A smile lit up my face

"Yeah we should"

I shook my head as the flash back went away  of how we first met. "You got this" I told myself before walking in his room.

"Hello Mr. Robison" I said taking a seat on my chair.

"I know that voice anywhere I heard him say" I put my head down.

"Paige?" He asked I looked over at him.

He was buff and tall with tattoos. God he looked good.

"That's me" I said with a slight smile. He tried to give me a hug but I back up.

"So um check up? And that's it?" I asked he sigh then nodded.

I started doing my job like I was suppose to do. I would use to think what would happen if I would run into him. Now that it happen I don't know what to say.

After I was don't it was bout time for him to leave.

"I was wondering we should catch up?" I shook my head.

"Nah I'm good" I took a deep breathe "Way to focus"

"Just like your parents wanted right?" He ask

"Yup. Your done now" I said letting him know he could leave.

"But Paige." He grab my arm. I snatch back from him.

"Can you go? There's nothing to talk about. The pass is in the pass let it go. Every since I walk out for five years I've been just fine. And just cause you found me doesn't mean you can come and try to get me back because it's not going to work. I meant what I said. We didn't know what love was. We were young Lucas. Hell I still don't know what it is and I'm 20. " I sigh looking down I walked over to the door opening for him to leave. He left with nothing to say.

She just how she was 5 years ago. But I'm not going to lie and say I didn't miss her, because I've miss her like hell. That night our last break up, I was torn.

As I walked out the hospital my phone vibrated in my pocket. I dug in my pocket getting it, it was my baby girl.

"Heallo" She sounded through the phone.

"Hey baby. What you've been up to?" I ask getting in my car going to practice.

"Nothing. I miss you daddy" she sounded sad.

"I miss you too Huns. I promise this weekend I'm coming to get you. And we're going to have fun"

"Yayy. Otay daddy I gotta go. Bye." She said and blew a kiss through the phone. I smiled and was ready to start my day, but couldn't stop what was going on in my head about what happen this morning.
