Chapter 4: Happiness

“Please, Tita. I just need to see her. Tell her I’m here” Pangungulit ko kay Tita Bhaby.

“Napakakulit naman talaga nito ni Ravena. She won’t accept visitors. Sa susunod na lang. Hala sige mauna ka na. Parating na yung Papa niya. Alis na kung ayaw mong dumanak ang dugo” Tita Bhaby said.

Feeling so hopeless, I left the Reyes’ house. I looked at Mika’s window. The lights are open. I know she’s awake and I know she knows I’m here. Ang gulo rin nito ni bbq. Last time we talked I thought everything’s gonna be okay.

Haaay. Ang siraulo ko rin para isipin na mababalik na lang ng ganun kadali ang lahat. Of course Mika won’t let me enter her life again that easy. But don’t worry my Binibini, I’m up for all the challenges because I know everything’s gonna be worth it.

By the way, when the plane landed, I immediately went to see Mika. Kaya ito, medyo jetlagged pa. I’m not complaining though. Wala pa ring nakakaalam na nakabalik na ko sa ‘Pinas. Even my family. For sure they’ll be shocked. Ilang buwan na rin kasi nila akong pinapakiusapan na umuwi, ako lang talaga itong ayaw.

I was driving when I got a message.

From bbq:
BB!! Bring me chocolates!!

I replied

To bbq:
As you wish, your grace.

My eyes widened as I read the message. She used her old number to message me!!! Immediately, I made a U-turn to go back to their house. Naku, bbq marami akong chocolates dito. I bought as many as I can ‘cause I know I’m gonna be needing them.

I’m a hundred meters away from their house when I received another message from her, which destroyed my mood.

From bbq:
Sorry Kiefer! Wrong send! Ur not on ur way pa naman di’ba? Sorry talaga. Uwi ka na.

TengEna. Hindi ako naiinis dahil hindi ko siya makikita. Ang kinaiinisan ko eh  mayroon siyang ibang ti-next para dalhan siya ng chocolates. TengEna sino to? Sino yang “BB” na yan!

Sa inis ko, dumiretso ako sa pabalik sa bahay nila. Aabangan ko kung sino tong ‘BB’ na ‘to.

When I arrived, her lights are still on and I can actually see her shadow through the window pane.
Shit, so close yet so far!

I waited for about 30 minutes, but no ‘BB’ came. Ano ba ‘to? Kung ako to nadala ko na agad kay Mika ang chocolates in 30 minutes kahit pa galing ako ng Cainta.

While waiting I watched Mika’s window. Mika would occasionally stand by her window but won’t open it. Does she know that I’m here?

An hour had passed but no one came, no single drop of chocolate, no ‘BB’.

Aalis na ba ako? TengEna ang sakit na ng pwet ko kakaupo dito.
Time check: 11:30 p.m. I looked at her windows. I can no longer see her shadow. Probably she’s in bed. Darating pa ba yung TengEnang ‘BB’ na yun? Would I still wait here? Baka masalisihan ako, mahirap na! So I decided to wait. Kahit pa abutan ako ng anong oras dito.

Tok tok.
“Hmmmmm” I groaned.

“Kiefer?”    I slightly opened my eyes to have a sight on the face of the person who’s calling me, still half awaked.

The rays of the sun hinders me to clearly see her face. I can tell by the voice that is from “her”.

All I can manage to see is a short haired, white girl, but the whole face is still blurry.

“Mika?” I called as I rubbed my eyes to get a better glimpse at my bbq’s face.

I heard her giggled.
